Cameron Casher Obituary

Cameron W. "Bill" Casher May 22, 1938 - May 22, 2010 Cameron W. "Bill" Casher, 71, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at his home. Born on May 22, 1938, in Philipsburg, he is the son of the late Cameron A. Casher and Louise E. Casher who survives in Snow Shoe. Bill is a 1956 graduate from Snow Shoe High School. He served in the United States Army Reserves. Billworked on I-80 when it was being built through Centre County. He was employed at Piper Aircraft until it's closing. After Piper, he worked at various jobs in the area until his retirement. Bill was a member the Snow Shoe United Methodist Church, Clarence American Legion Post 813, Snow Shoe VFW Post 5644, Show Shoe Fire Hall, Clarence Moose Club 1565, Young Democratic Club of Clarence, AARP, and the Centre County Crime Stoppers. He was known for taking in stray cats and for feeding the wild life that came into his yard. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. You could usually find Bill in his garage, working on his car, listening to his favorite radio station, Froggie 101. Bill is survived by; his mother; his son, John L. Casher, of Clarence; two daughters, Lori S. Surovec (Shannon), and Kathleen D. Kline, both of Snow Shoe; one brother, Gary A Casher (Takako), of Killeen, Texas; and one sister, Linda L. Schall (George), of Snow Shoe. Also surviving Bill is his former wife, Jean E Bennett Casher of Snow Shoe; four grandchildren, Shannon Poorman, Taren Correll, Johnna Casher, and Lane Casher; two great grandchildren, Ryleigh and Raegan Correll; and by his faithful kitty, Jerry Lee. Along with his father, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Stephen W. Casher, and by two grandsons. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St., Snow Shoe. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010, at the funeral home with Pastor Cathy Dittman officiating. Burial with full military honors with be at Centre County Memorial Park, College Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to PAWS, 1042 Benner Pike, State College, PA 16801.
