James F. Immel September 30, 1934 - October 5, 2012 James F. Immel, 78, of Spring Mills, passed from this life on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at his home. Born on Sept. 30, 1934, in Spring Mills, Jim was a son of the late Edward J. and Mabel E. Gentzel Immel. Jim attended the Green Grove Crossroads School. On Sept. 6, 1959, Jim married Nancy L. Ernest who preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2010. He was employed by PennDOT as a truck driver, retiring in 1994 with 30 years of service. He also worked at Hanover Inc. in Centre Hall for five years and he drove the Amish around the county. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved the Belleville Auction, getting up early every Wednesday to attend. He enjoyed hunting and showing his antique tractors. Jim was a member of the Lewistown Moose, the Central District Volunteer Fireman's Association, the Gregg Township Fire Co., the Pa. Employee Benefit Trust Fund and the Nittany Antique Machinery Association. Jim is survived by siblings, Sara J. Griffin, of Shirleysburg, Anna "Dolly" Long, of Centre Hall, Doris L. Rittenhouse (Ron), of San Tan Valley, Ariz., Mae "Reannie" Rider (Dave), of Spring Mills, and Budd H. Immel, of Woodward. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Jim was preceded in death by siblings, Mary H. Cogan, Edwin W. "Bus" Immel, David "Sunny" Immel and an infant brother, Eugene. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 12, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the Faith Alive Fellowship on Route 45, Spring Mills. The funeral services will be held at the church on Friday, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Michael Covalt officiating. Jim will be laid to rest in Heckman Cemetery in Spring Mills.
