John F. Kustaborder Jr.

John F. Kustaborder Jr. November 22, 1948 January 14, 2013 John F. Kustaborder, Jr., 64 of Howard, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at his home. He was born on Nov. 22, 1948, in Huntingdon, a son of the late John F. Kustaborder, Sr., and Helen Lear Kustaborder Dawson, of State College. On April 22, 1972, he married Carol Ann Gates, who survives at home. John was owner and operator of John's Auto Sales and Salvage of Howard. He had also worked at Corning for many years. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church of Snydertown. John enjoyed collecting all types of antiques, but was particularly fond of antique gas pumps and paraphernalia, as well as automobiles. He enjoyed watching Penn State and Steeler football. Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael E. (Sunshine), of Mill Hall and Bradley J. (Melissa), of Howard; five sisters, Sally Henry, Joan Gummo, Jane Price, Kathy Showers, and Mary Kowalcyk; three brothers, Jack, Albert, and Joe Kustaborder; and two grandchildren, Carson and Calen Kustaborder. He is also survived by his faithful K-9 companions, Bear and Lilly. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Eger. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the St. Mark Lutheran Church, 850 Snydertown Rd., Howard, with the Rev. Ruth Jensen officiating. Friends and family will be received from 5-8 p.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Howard, Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013. There will be an additional hour visitation Thursday, from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Hublersburg Cemetery.
