Barry M. (Butch) Charles December 20, 1947 December 10, 2013 Barry M. "Butch" Charles, 65, of Petersburg, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at his home. Born December 20, 1947 in Lancaster, he was a son of J. Melvin Charles and Ruth J. (Burkhart) Charles. On December 7, 1974, he married Judi K. (Metz) Charles, who resides at their home. He is additionally survived by one son, Jesse Lee Charles, of Huntingdon; goddaughter, Katy Charles, of Marathon, N.Y.; siblings, Terry Lee Charles and wife, Deb, of Holtwood, Larry G. Charles and wife, Sue of, Cherry Flats Nancy E. Griesemer and husband, David, of Lancaster; and sister-in-law, Peggy Schlegelmilch, of Conastoga. He is also survived several special nieces and nephews. He was in the home construction business and was self employed. He served in the United States Army from 1969-1972 during the Vietnam War. Butch attended Manor Hill Methodist Church and was a member of the VFW Post #7294 in Millersville. He enjoyed trout fishing, doing woodworking projects and most recently, reading. There will be a Celebration of his Life service held at a later date in the spring.
