Carl N. Rockey Sr. November 30, 1926 March 6, 2014 Carl N. Rockey, Sr., 87, of Bellefonte, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, in Danville. Born November 30, 1926, in Fillmore, he was the son of the late Henry and Katherine (Foore) Rockey. His first wife, Barbara Hillard, preceded him in death on March 28, 1986. He then married Jean Shawver Brown, who also preceded him in death on April 29, 2006. He attended the Boogersburg School and owned his own plastering business, then later joined the United Brotherhood of Plasterers and Cement Finishers. Carl was a member of the Fillmore Methodist Church. He was a member of the Undine Fire Company, where he was the past Chief of Fire Police, member of the American Legion Post #33, member of the VFW Post # 1600, where he served as the past Commander, and was the 22nd District Commander, and he was named Veteran of the Year for Post #1600. He was the bugler for the VFW Firing Squad for many, many years. Carl served in the U.S. Army during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. For his service he received the Army of Occupation Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Occupation Medal (Japan w/clasp) and the Korean Service Medal. He is survived by one daughter, Lisa G. Robinson, and her husband, Terry, of Howard; one sister, Phyllis Neff, of Bellefonte; one brother, Truman Rockey, of Bellefonte; along with three grandchildren, Casey Rockey, Jr., of East Liverpool, Ohio, Stacey Schellenberg, and husband, Lucas, of Bellefonte and Jeri Beth Jarrett, and husband, Nathan, of Montgomery. In addition, Carl is survived by five great-grandchildren, Taylor Rockey, Victoria and Jacob Schellenberg and Connor and Gabriel Jarrett. In addition to his parents and both of his wives, Carl was preceded in death by two sons, Casey and Carl Rockey, Jr.; along with three sisters and three brothers. A public visitation will be held on Sunday evening, March 9, 2014, from 6-8 p.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, PA. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home, with Reverend Calvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Meyer Cemetery, Benner Township.
