Irvin A. Weaver May 19, 1917 July 23, 2014 Irvin A. Weaver, 97, of Bellefonte, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. The son of the late Sylvester Joseph and Mary Catherine (Strausbaugh) Weaver, he was born on May 19, 1917, in McSherrystown. On September 20, 1942, he was married to the former Virginia Rine. Irvin and Virginia celebrated 67 years of marriage before her death on September 30, 2009. Irvin was a 1937 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1942 graduate of Penn State University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree. In 1942, he attended school at the Naval Medical Center, in Bethesda Md. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he was an Epidemiology and Sanitation Technician. Irvin helped set up a Quality Control Program in Milk for the Pittsburgh Dairy Council. He had been a Milk Sanitarian for the Pennsylvania Department of Health. In 1951, he founded Weaver Dairy in Bellefonte, and ran that business for 30 years, retiring in 1981. After retirement he obtained his Real Estate License and worked for Mallory and John Curtin Real Estate. He spent his retirement buying and managing many rental properties. He was a former member of the Bellefonte Lions Club where he served as President. Irvin is survived by one son and three daughters, Daniel L Weaver (Patti), of Bellefonte, Elaine W. Fike (Larry), of Howard, Janet G. Weaver-Miller (Jack), of Bellefonte and Linda W. Kline (George), of Julian; along with 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by son-in-law, Gary Emel, of Julian. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan W. Emel; and three brothers, Anthony, Elmer and Raymond Weaver. A public visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte, PA. The funeral service will follow visitation at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Bo King officiating for the family.
