John P. Berhosky June 4, 1932 June 21, 2014 John P. Berhosky, 82, of Zion, died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Mt. Nittany Medical Centre at State College. He was born June 4, 1932, at Morann, PA a son of the late Harry and Anna Temo Berhosky. On September 2, 1961 he married Donna I. Johnson who survives at home. After graduating from Houtzdale-Woodward High School, Mr. Berhosky served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, earning the rank of Corporal. Mr. Berhosky worked as a corrections officer at S. C. I. Rockview, retiring in 1986 with rank of Captain. He loved God, and his loving wife Donna, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, Polka and Ball Room Dancing, and was an avid football fan, especially Penn State Football and Pittsburgh Steelers Football. His memberships included Grace Lutheran Church in State College, the Freeburg American Legion Post 591 in Houtzdale, the Nittany Lion Club, and he was a former member of the V. F. W. in Houtzdale. Surviving Mr. Berhosky in addition to his wife Donna, is one daughter, Toni Lyn Atkins and her husband Tom of Newark, Maryland; two sons Wayne Berhosky of Osceola Mills, and Brian Berhosky and his wife Dr. Linda Range of Coraopolis; three grandchildren Tracy Czerwinski and Stephanie and Alex Berhosky; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Kennedy, and Levi Czerwinski; and four sisters, Margaret Tokarchek of Lansdale, Mary Gallagher of South Carolina, Martha Gordon of Philadelphia, and Catherine Reilly and her husband Thomas of Pottstown and a sister in law Helen Berhosky, wife of his late brother Michael Berhosky In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Joseph and Michael Berhosky. Friends will be received from 5 - 8 p. m, Monday, June 23, 2014 at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Service, 1034 Benner Pike, State College. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a. m., Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 S. Garner St. State College with the Reverend P. Stevens Lynn, officiating. A committal service with military honors will be held 3:00 p. m., Tuesday at the American Legion Cemetery in Brisbin.
