Kathleen A. Anderson October 8, 1952 August 26, 2013 Kathleen A. Anderson, 60, of Watson- town, formerly of Boals- burg, died Monday, August 26, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Oct. 8, 1952, in Meadville, she was the daughter of the late Gerald A. and Betty Ann Close Porter. She is survived by four siblings, Mary Porter, of Berlin, Mass., James Porter and his wife, Pamela, of State College, Robert Porter and his wife, Kimberly, of Alexandria, and Elizabeth Porter Boone and her husband, Glyn, of Leola; and 10 nieces and nephews, Joe and Emily Porter, of State College, Abigail Porter, of San Francisco, Lewis and Anthony Porter and Ryan Cassatt, of Alexandria, and Laura, Peter, Elizabeth and Joanna Boone, of Leola; and by her long-time companion, Rich Olsen, of Watson- town. Kathy was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas A. Porter, in 1989. She was a 1970 graduate of State College High School. She earned an Associate's degree in Ornamental Nursery Management from Penn State University in 1972, reflecting a life-long love of plants and gardening. Kathy was a creative and skilled seamstress who recently retired after 27 years as the owner and operator of Anderson-Porter Upholstery of Watsontown and State College. Prior to that she worked as an upholsterer and turned a green thumb to managing nurseries in Ohio and Florida. She was devoted to her pets, a certain Jack Russell terrier being among her favorites. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m., on Friday, August 30, 2013, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home with the Reverend Dr. G. Edwin Zeiders officiating. Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Hwy., Centre Hall, PA 16828 or to the National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Avenue, Nebraska City, NE 68410. Someone once said that funerals are for the living to be sad but in fact they truly are a time of celebration for the gift of ones life.
