Patricia Yearick Hall May 28, 1929 September 10, 2013 Patricia Yearick Hall, of Howard, passed away on Sept. 10, 2013 surrounded by her family at Centre Crest in Bellefonte where she had been a resident for the past seven years. Her husband, Gerard (Gerry), took care of her at home for three years prior to her admission. Born May 28, 1929, in her grandparent's home in Mount Eagle, she was the only child of the late John King Yearick and Dorothy Glenn Yearick, of Howard. She spend her youth in Howard and graduated from Howard High School in 1947. After high school, she went to live with her aunt in New York City and attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School graduating in 1949. After graduation, she came back to Howard and worked at Penn State University as a secretary. She then joined the Navy and was stationed in Atlantic City, N.J. and Jacksonville, Fla. She was an aviation store keeper. While stationed in Jacksonville, Fla., she met her husband Gerard T., of Queens, N.Y., who was also in the Navy. After being discharged from the Navy, she moved back to Howard and raised her oldest daughter until moving to Queens, N.Y. While living in New York, she was very involved with her daughter's elementary school and her youngest daughter's nursery school. The whole family moved back to Howard, and she went to work at Bald Eagle Area High School where she worked as a secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. She then worked at the Howard Elementary School as the Librarian. Next, she went to work as the dispatcher at the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks in Milesburg where she worked until she retired. After retiring, she spend lots of time at both of her daughter's various homes. She had a love of gardening, drawing, and painting, playing the piano, working on the family's genealogy, traveling, with one time going across the United States in a Jeep with her youngest daughter to visit her oldest daughter in California. She also enjoyed the beach, yard sales, and Democratic functions. She served as the secretary to the Centre County Democratic Party. In her spare time she played the piano and organ for the singing group "The Nine Notes". She was also a Sunday school teacher and choir director at the United Church of Christ in Howard. She also spent time being a Girl Scout Leader in Bellefonte and Howard. Patricia is survived by her husband, Gerard T., of Howard; daughters, Dorothy T. and her husband, Lloyd A. Walker, of Milesburg and Gwendolyn H. and husband, Don Holderman, of Bellefonte; and only grandchild and the pride of her life, Emma Holderman, of Bellefonte. There will be a service at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main Street, Howard on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at noon with a celebration of life get together at her daughter Dorothy's house in Milesburg after the service.
