Dr. Robert Eugene Keith Dr. Robert Eugene Keith, former Assoc. Professor of Industrial Engineering at PSU in the 1970s and resident of Austin, Texas for the past 36 years, passed away peacefully on July 4. Born in Pawhuska, Okla. in 1928, he was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church choir, the SC Choral Society and the Pennsylvania Chorale on its many trips to Europe. He graduated from Gulf Coast Military Academy in Gulfport, Miss. and from the University of Michigan, where he earned a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering. He had congressional appointments to both Annapolis and West Point, but chose Michigan because he wanted to watch Tom Harmon play football. He also played cornet in the UofM Marching Band. During his career, he was a research engineer at the GE Research Laboratory in Schenectady, N.Y. and at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio. He was married for 53 years to Virginia Marie Mulkey (deceased in 2003) of Detroit; and is survived by two sons, Duane Keith and Paul Keith (both PSU grads and long time residents of Austin) and three grandchildren. His remains will be buried in Osage County, Okla.
