Robert Eugene (Bob) Myers April 13, 1932 April 20, 2014 Robert Eugene "Bob" Myers, 82, formerly of Tyrone, and a resident of Graystone Court, Altoona, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at his residence. He was born April 13, 1932, in Tyrone, a son of John T. and Violet B. (Wesner) Myers. He is survived by a brother, Jack Myers (Mae), of Tyrone; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Edward and Charles; and sisters, Vivian and Martha. He was a graduate of Tyrone High School in 1951, where he excelled in football. He had been an avid ice skater and was vice-president then president 1989-1990, of a Penn State Figure Skating Club. He was a bronze medal ice dancer and did 13 ice shows at Penn State Ice Pavilion. He belonged to Ice Skating Institute of America Club at Penn State University for 18 years. He loved boating and fishing. He was an avid reader, especially his Bible and was a member of the Friends of the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library. He was a member of the Tyrone Rock of Ages Church. He retired in 1994, from Westvaco Corp. after 37½years of service. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Pastor Mike Baney officiating. Interment will be at Eastlawn Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Rock of Ages Church, 1701 Columbia Ave., Tyrone, PA 16686.
