Shirley L. Kovach August 31, 1948 May 7, 2014 Shirley L. Kovach passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday May 7, 2014. Born August 31, 1948, in Moran, to the late Helen (Janoko) Kovach and George Kovach of Ginter. Shirley lived most of her life in Gatesburg and most recently in Las Vegas, Nev. She is survived by her sister, Mariann (Kovach) Krupa, of Cinton; son, Brian Rider (Jackie), of Latrobe; and daughter, Coleen (Rider) Kelty (Will), of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Allen and Aryn Rider, Mya and Evan Kelty. A graduate of Moshannon Valley High School, Shirley worked for most of her career before retiring from Penn State University after 32 years. A life-long dedication to helping others, she was a volunteer at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas where she spent her time with those recovering from illness. A loving mother and grandmother and a supportive friend, she will be dearly missed by those who had an opportunity to be a part of her life. Memorial service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 123 Good Street, Houtzdale, PA at 11:00 a.m. on Monday June 30, 2014. A private, immediate family only service will follow where she will be laid to rest in eternal peace. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the .
