Eleanor C. Rudy

Eleanor C. Rudy January 14, 1939-June 2, 2012 Eleanor C. Rudy, 73, of Pennsylvania Furnace, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born Jan. 14, 1939 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Gordon H. and Elaine Allen Pritham. On Aug. 17, 1963, she married Kenneth E. Rudy, who survives in Pennsylvania Furnace. She is survived by one daughter Carol E. Sweeney and her husband Chris, of West Chester; two grandchildren, Jonathan T., and Jessica C. Sweeney. Eleanor is survived by two sisters, Anita M. Manning, of Silver Spring, Md., and Mary E. Shilling and her husband Sam, of Port Matilda; and one brother, Chuck G. Pritham and his wife Madaly, of Richmond, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Eleanor was a graduate of State College High School class of 1956 and was a 1959 graduate of Lansdale School of Business. She was a member of the Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church. She loved her children and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed painting early in her life and also enjoyed bowling, gardening, ceramics, cooking and being a great hostess. Eleanor drove school bus for Kline's School Bus Garage in Pine Grove Mills from 1972 until 1985, and from 1986 until 1990 she worked as postmaster replacement at the Pennsylvania Furnace Post Office. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Diller officiating. Burial will be in Graysville Cemetery.
