Frank Angelo Baker August 3, 1947 November 1, 2013 Frank Angelo "Coach" Baker, 66, of State College, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born on August 3, 1947 in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Bruce and Lucy (Angelo) Baker. In Nashville, TN, he was married to Rose M. (Plovic) Baker, who survives at home. From 1971 to 2006, Frank served as a teacher. For the first twelve years, he served as a fourth grade elementary school teacher and for the remainder of his teaching career, he served as a seventh and eighth grade reading and spelling teacher, all for the Southern Huntingdon County Area School District. In the fall of 1971, Mr. Baker began his coaching career at Southern Huntingdon County High School in Three Springs serving as a football and wrestling coach. Later on, he also became a track and field coach for Southern Huntingdon. After his retirement from teaching from 2003 thru 2008, he was a football coach and defensive coordinator for Huntingdon Area High School. During his tenure as a football coach, he was selected as one of the football coaches for the Lezzer Lumber Classic and was inducted into the Central Pennsylvania Football Coaches Hall of Fame. Coach was a member and attended the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church in Lemont and had previously served as Leader of the UM Men; was a previous member of the Saltillo Lions Club; and had previously coached the Saltillo Little League. Frank enjoyed golfing, where he was a member of the Burning Tee League at the Penn State Golf Courses in State College; playing poker with his friends; gardening and lawn care; being in the outdoors; and especially spending time with family and friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Francie Baker at home; four sons, Jason Baker (Rachel) of Nashville, TN, Andrew Baker (Alison) of Marathon, FL, Joshua Baker of Saxton, and Daniel Trew at home; one sister, Mary Gates (Thomas) of Dudley; two brothers, Leonard "Buck" Baker (June) of Saxton, and Pompey Angelo (Charlotte) of Missouri; and six grandchildren, Ashley, Benjamin, Drew, Ezekiel, Phoebe, and Naomi Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle who raised him, Ethel and John Hegedes; and three brothers, Ronald, Jim, and Bruce Baker. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013, beginning at 6:30 PM, at the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church, 1500 E. Branch Road, State College, PA with the Reverend Edward Preston officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends from 5:30 PM until the time of the Memorial Services on Thursday, November 7th at Mount Nittany United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Coach's memory can be made to the Millersville University Marauders Wrestling Team, Development Office, Duncan Alumni House, Millersville University, P.O. Box 1002, Millersville, PA 17551-0302 or to the Penn State Wrestling Club, P.O. Box 1103, State College, PA 16804-1103. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mark D.
