G. Allen Blakeslee March 10, 1931 June 27, 2013 G. Allen Blakeslee, 82, of Bellefonte, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in College Township. Born on March 10, 1931, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late George T. and Grace Anna (Shope) Blakeslee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley DeAngelo Blakeslee in 1995. He was a graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School and also the Williamsport Technical School Allen worked as a tool and dye specialist for Chemcut in State College. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. He loved steam trains, enjoyed metal detecting and watching the Philipsburg Osceola softball team. Allen was a veteran who served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his brother, Jim Blakeslee, of Bellefonte and special friend and companion of 14 years, Thelma Stratton; her four children and their spouses; and her 12 grandchildren. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Nancy and Basil Ray, of Bellefonte; sister-in-law, John and Carol Ishler, of Harrisonburg, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Callenbach. There will be a public viewing held on Monday, July 1, 2013, from 6-8 p.m., at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte and prior to the funeral service at Faith United Methodist Church on Tuesday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte, with the Reverend Andrew Morgan and Reverend Mark Thumma officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Bellefonte.
