John William McKenzie (Mack) Brady January 16, 2004 December 31, 2012 John William McKenzie "Mack" Brady, age 8, of State College, died on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Hershey Medical Center. Born Jan. 16, 2004, in New Orleans, La., the son of Christian Mark McNamara and Elizabeth Isabel Walma Brady, of State College. In addition to his parents, Mack is survived by his sister, Isabel Ruth Braybrook "Izzy" Brady; his paternal grandparents, Charles Darnell and Martha Ann McNamara Brady, of Montgomery, MD, and his maternal grandparents Kenneth Dale and Nancy Tyler Braybrook Walma Sr. of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and his paternal great grandmother Mae Estelle Hugel McNamara of Montgomery, Md.; along with eight aunts and uncles; and nine cousins. Mack was a third grade student at the Park Forest Elementary School and a member of the State College Celtics Soccer team and attended Saint Andrews Episcopal Church. His parents shared that, "He was a special treasure, a true blessing sent from God. Mack was passionate about soccer and his dream was to be the starting keeper for the US National team. He had wonderful friends at school, at church, and on his team, The SC Celtics. He has the best sister one could imagine. "May light perpetual shine upon him who puts his trust in the Lord." Friends will be received at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801 on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, Foster Ave. and Fraser Street, State College, on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at 10 a.m. with Rev. If you would like to make a memorial gift, you can send in a check, made payable to Penn State with "In memory of Mack Brady" in the memo to: Penn State University, One Old Main, University Park, PA 16802. It is the family's intention to have the scholarship support a soccer player at Penn State. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College. Laurie Agostinelli

January 8, 2013

Hi, my name is Laurie Agostinelli and I have had the pleasure of knowing Mack for 3 years. My time spent with him was once a week at the PFE library checking out books. You would be surprised how much you get to know a student only seeing them once a week. You learn their likes and dislikes with literature and more importanly the student as an individual. Mack was quiet and yet at the same time had stuff to say. Mack was an Angel, boy, son, student, friend, team mate, dreamer, and an all around wonderful gift from God. May God bless his soul and we know it soars without boundaries. The loving man that went to be with the Lord will be waiting for the ones he loves. May God bless his soul and eternal sunshine. love always, The Agostinelli's

Kathy Sherman

January 4, 2013

Dear Chris, Elizabeth and Izzy, I am so sorry for the loss of Mack and want to express my deepest, heartfelt sympathy. I will be praying that God, our great comforter, will touch your hearts with healing in the sorrowful times ahead. When you moved to Penn State, Mack was a toddler and real attached to his binky. The article I read in the paper showed how he has grown into a wonderful young boy. You have many reasons to be proud of what he accomplished in a short amount of time. If you could peek into heaven today, I believe you would see Mack in the arms of Jesus who is introducing him to millions of children his age who already love him like a brother. After my mom died, a verse in the Bible lifted my spirits: Ps. 116:15. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Mack is precious in the sight of the Lord. Please take care of yourselves. Sincerely, Kathy Sherman

Life remains unpredictable for all those on its journey. It can take unsuspecting twists and turns, some for the good and some for the unfortunate. After meeting the Brady family multiple times at football games and being a student at the Schreyer Honors College, I was heartbroken at this news. I must attempt to express my deepest condolence and care for the Brady family as they try to cope, yet I know that communicating the intensity of my sorrow would not be possible. I know that this family is special, and they have the heart and strength to remain together and push on. Yet, for those times that it may not be easy to see the light at the end of the tunnel, I will continue my prayers and thoughts of compassion. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Dean Brady and Family,

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of your son, Mack Brady. His reputation in the PLA as the preeminent soccer player for the SC Celtics was legendary, and I even got the chance to see him play while volunteering at the Kicks-4-Kids-Tournament this last Spring. The lovely stories of Mack and your Family that you've shared in class showed the deep love and endearment you have with your son. Please accept my condolences during these difficult times. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Brady Family, You dont know me, I live in Columbus, Indiana and have dear friends that told me about Mack and I felt compelled to write to you and first tell you how deeply sorry I am. I know the pain of losing a child...My 14 year old daughter died 14 1/2 years ago from meningitis and her story was much like Macks. Please know that there are so many prayers with you..all the way in Indiana and I KNOW that prayer is THE greatest thing any one can do. Our Lord will show you His presence in so many ways..HE truly will carry you as he is carrying your sweet Mack. I know this because this is what HE has done for me for 14 1/2 years. I wondered at the beginning if I could ever love life again...I DO. I value it, I treasure it and I look forward to seeing my sweet daughter Jolie's face and I know she is in the presence of Jesus along with Mack. I pray for the "PEACE THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING" for all of you and OUR LORD is firm on HIS promises....HE will never leave you ever and is especially close through the most difficult thing a parent could ever go through. God bless you,
Shayla Holtkamp

Dearest Christian, Elizabeth, Izzy and Family, I have such a heavy heart right now. There are no words to express how deeply, deeply saddened I am to hear that our precious Mack has passed. It is such an unimaginable loss. Having Mack as a student in my 1st/2nd grade classroom two years in a row was one of the most cherished experiences I will hold so near and dear to my heart. His smile, his laughter, his happiness, and his love just permeated our classroom each and every day. I cherish each and every memory I made with Mack as his teacher. He was truly a treasured gift from God. Thank you for sharing him with me for 2 years. He will forever be etched in my heart and I love him dearly. With all my love and prayers,
