Maurice S. Brubaker August 11, 1935 August 9, 2013 Maurice S. Brubaker, 77, of State College, died Friday, August 9, 2013, at Mount Nittany Medical Center of complications of multiple myeloma. Son of the late Adin and Huldah Brubaker, he was born in Columbiana, Ohio. He was married to Carolyn Horst on August 18, 1956. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Brubaker, and her husband, Charles Frederick, Jr., of Bloomington, Ind.; a son, Rodney Brubaker, of State College; grandchildren, Charles Frederick, III, and Alma Claire Frederick; and brothers, Lowell Brubaker, of Waynesboro, Va. and Carl Brubaker, of Alberta, Canada. He graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School, attended Goshen College, and graduated from Richmond Professional Institute with a degree in Occupational Therapy. During his 40-year professional career, he worked in mental health, rehab hospitals, and Valley View Retirement Home. In retirement he enjoyed working at the Ace Hardware Store. Throughout his life he was an avid gardener, woodworker, reader, and birder. He was a member of University Mennonite Church, where a memorial service will be held on August 24, 2013. Visiting will be from 1-2:30 p.m.; service to follow.
