William C. (Bill) Hoyer Sr. September 2, 1943 August 27, 2013 William C. "Bill" Hoyer, Sr., 69, of Mifflintown, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at his home. Born Sept. 2, 1943 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Alexander and Verna Ruth (Palm) Hoyer. He is survived by his wife, Chrissie (Confer) Hoyer, whom he married Nov. 28, 1963; four children, William C. Hoyer, Jr., of Port Royal, Kimberly L. Orr, of Lewistown, Russell A. Hoyer, of Honey Grove and Holly A. Bustillo, of Loch Sheldrake, N.Y.; one brother, Robert B. Sweitzer, of Lewistown; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Hoyer; and one sister, Grace Sheffer. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Viet Nam War. He was a truck driver for Zimmerman Truck Lines, Inc. and a security officer at Empire Kosher Poultry. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown with Major Raymond Simpson officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council. There will be a viewing from 7-9 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013, at the funeral home. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Church, 9 S.
