Craig Bloom Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 7, 2018.
Craig Alan Bloom April 18, 1954 February 4, 2018 Craig Alan Bloom, 63, of Hesston, died Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born April 18, 1954, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Joyce Bloom. He is survived by two children, Carlton A. Bloom and his wife, Pamela, of Fountain Inn, S.C. and Collette A. Snook and her husband, Matthew, of Tyrone; a sister, Yvonne Caldwell and her husband, Porter, of Mt. Laurel, a sister in-law, Betty Bloom, of New Jersey N.J.; four grandchildren, Piper, Penelope, Phoebe and Phoenix Bloom; and his companion dog, Cooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles A. Bloom II. He was a 1972 graduate of Moorestown Senior High School, New Jersey. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Penn State University in May of 1977. Craig and his family moved back to State College in the late 1980's and made their home in Hesston. He was proud of his children and enjoyed helping with their school activities. He was a band parent for the Huntingdon Bearcat Marching Band and Indoor Percussion. He was also a Troop Leader for The Boy Scout Troop #25 for seven years. He had a natural gift when it came to working on automobiles and small engines. He shared this gift by helping others. Craig, the youngest in his family, was cared for by his grandmother, Edna, who was known as an excellent cook. She passed this on to Craig who loved to cook and bake. Over two years ago he was diagnosed with kidney cancer. He approached every surgery, procedure, and treatment with great courage and faith. Through this time he lived his life to the fullest - working outside in his garage, spending time with family and Copper doing things that he enjoyed. He will be deeply missed by his close friends, John, Bob, Amy and his dog Cooper. Craig was a man of few words who demonstrated his care and love to his family and friends through his actions and deeds. "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:14 Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, February 9, 2018, at the funeral home with the Reverend Bonnie Kline Smeltzer officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 600 Corporate Circle #103, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to the Schlow Centre Region Library, 211 S. I met Craig in May of 1973 when I applied for a job at the gas station he was working at. Meeting Craig and his friend Glenn started me on my lifelong obsession of exploring the NJ Pine Barrens. He was a great person to be around and one that I surely wish was still with us.
