Richard D. Humphrey July 5, 1927 December 1, 2013 Dick passed from this life on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at his home. Born July 5, 1927, in Philipsburg to the late Theodore & Nellie (Johnson) Humphrey, he was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Philipsburg High School in 1945 and entered the Army, serving in Germany. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Philipsburg, and also attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Philipsburg. Dick retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, having worked in Bellefonte, State College, Snow Shoe, Houtzdale and Philipsburg. Before being diagnosed with Parkinson's he was an avid golfer and swimmer and excelled in sports through high school. He is survived by his wife Darlene (Trella) Humphrey, whom he married Dec. 27, 1964; a niece Judy Payne, of Pennsylvania; and nephews Ted (Becky) Monroe, of Florida, Theodore (Judy) Humphrey, of Ohio, Max (Pam) Humphrey, of North Carolina, Reed (Kim) Humphrey, of Montana, Jim (Sharon) Hagyard, of Philipsburg and John (Kathy) Hagyard, of Philipsburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore, Max and Bernard, and three sisters Nellie Hart, Ruth Roehm and Jacquelyn Slee. A celebration of life will be held at the Philipsburg Cemetery on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at 1 p.m. with Father William R. Walker and Rev. Brenda K. Leigey officiating. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 4th & Presqueisle St., Philipsburg. Military honors will be accorded by the US Army.
