Al Lane CHARLESTON - Al Lane, of Charleston, SC, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on May 16, 2016, at the age of 85, following a brief journey with cancer. He is predeceased by his mother, Arbelle (Grooms) Lane, father, John Aiken Lane, and aunt, Mae (Grooms) Hiott, of Charleston. He is survived by his wife, Gladys (Parrott) Lane, to whom he was married for nearly 59 years, and daughters, Lois K. Lane (David W. Rogers) and Kristen Lane, of Charleston, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Lane was born at Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC on September 4, 1930. He graduated from Murray Vocational High School (1949) in Charleston, SC and the University of South Carolina (1954) in Columbia, SC. In high school, he earned the designation Eagle Scout-the highest attainable rank in the Boy Scouts of America-and during college, he was a camp counselor at Camp Ho Non Wah on Wadmalaw Island, SC. This helped launch a professional career as an executive in the Boy Scouts of America organization for more than 30 years. He was involved in various Rotary Clubs during his career as he worked throughout the country for the Boy Scouts of America. He attended the French Protestant (Huguenot) Church of Charleston. Throughout his life, Mr. Lane was viewed a man of integrity and generosity who had a tremendous influence on those who knew him. His family and friends will miss his love of life, sense of humor, and fine storytelling. He will be remembered as a kind, loving, devoted husband and father, and as a true gentleman. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Langdale Jr., William Palmer  
William Palmer Langdale, Jr. WALTERBORO - Mr. William Palmer Langdale, Jr., age 94, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Friday afternoon, May 19, 2016, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. Funeral services will be conducted 3:30pm, Sunday afternoon, May 22, 2016, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 7345 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro. The Reverend David Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service during a time of visitation beginning at 1:30pm that afternoon in the church sanctuary. Born March 15, 1922 in Colleton County, he was a son of the late William Palmer Langdale, Sr. and the late Mary Utsey Langdale. Mr. Langdale dedicated his life to hard work and possessed a very strong work ethic. He worked in the carpenter shop of Asten Hill in Walterboro. He dearly loved gardening and farming and for many years worked with the Walterboro Stock Yards where he was a well-known fixture by the locals. He also loved law enforcement, having worked with the Colleton County Sherriff's Department as well as served for a period of time as a State Constable, having worked closely with the County's Magistrate courts. He was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was active in many aspects of the church's work. At his church, he served on the Cemetery Committee for a great number of years, served on the Deacon board where he had served as Chairman of the Deacons and was named as Deacon Emeritus for his long tenure of service, and has also served as a Sunday School Director. As a true outdoorsman, he dearly loved hunting as well as fishing and was a member of Dawn Plantation Hunting Club. Surviving are: his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Mrs. Helen Craven Langdale; a son, Rickey Lynn Langdale, Sr. and his wife Patsy of Walterboro; a daughter, Annette Langdale Woods and her husband Ben of Walterboro; five grandchildren, Angela Hadaway (Jimmy) of Walterboro, Travis Langdale of Chester, Rick Langdale, Jr. (Samantha) of Easley, Erica Pinckney (Jonathan) of Walterboro, and Rebecca Herndon (Kenny) of Walterboro; seven great-grandchildren, Dalton, Renee, Cynthia, Dustyne, Emily, Logan, and Hunter; as well as his daughter-in-law, Diane Crosby Langdale and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis William Langdale in 2002; two sisters; and three brothers. Dennis Keith Lemon BETHLEHEM, GA - Dennis K. Lemon, age 58, of Summerville, SC., passed away at his residence in Bethlehem, GA, Tuesday, May 24, 2016. He was of the Christian Faith and attended of The Murray Methodist AME Church in Summerville, SC. From childhood. Dennis worked for WEG Electric Motors as a shipping clerk. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, SSG, Isaac T. Lemon. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Odette Lee Lemon of Bethlehem, GA; his mother Dorothy Mood Lemon of Summerville, SC; four daughters, Toi and Enderia Oliver of Georgia, Kenricka Roberts and Gabriel Whyte of Bethlehem; five (5) brothers and (5) sisters, four (4) grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, GA with Rev. Richard Tuttle officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00AM until funeral hour on Saturday. Michael Louis Leslie SUMMERVILLE - Michael Louis Leslie, age 54, born Dec 9, 1961, entered into eternal rest at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina May 21, 2016, at 11:15 PM surrounded by his family. Mr. Leslie was a native of Summerville, and is preceded in death by his father Nicholas Miller Leslie. Surviving are his mother Sadie Beaudrot Harmon, stepfather Clayton Harmon Sr. of Moncks Corner. His brothers Johnny Leslie of Summerville, Clayton Harmon Jr. of Summerville and his sisters Donna Leslie Nicholson of Aiken SC and Ann Leslie Rudd of North Augusta, SC. He was uncle to 7 nieces, 3 nephews, 7 grt-nieces and 1 grt-nephew. Funeral Service will be held at Ridge Baptist Church 2168 Ridge Rd, Summerville, SC Wednesday May 25 2016. Jerome Eugene Lloyd N. CHARLESTON - Mr. Jerome Eugene Lloyd, 64, of North Charleston, SC, passed away on May 23, 2016. He was born on March 10, 1952, to his parents, Dewey and Creet Lloyd, in Williamson, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Kim Lloyd; son, Eric Lloyd; granddaughter, Cassandra Brooke Lloyd; family members, Robert and Phyllis Aubrey, Eddie and Evelyn Staton, Randy and Marsha Barrett, as well as his nieces, nephews, and many family friends. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 26, 3:00 pm in the chapel of Carolina Funeral Home.
