I am so happy that I saw and talked to David at our reunion from BE in the spring. It had been 50 years since I had had that privilege, but I never forgot what a dedicated student he was, even then. My sincere sympathy to his sister and family.

David was our friend for nearly 40 years; everything said in these notices is true and consistent with the way in which he lived his life. Loyal, generous, and exceptionally learned, David is missed very much. Our best wishes to his sister and niece who have been his devoted supporters and whom he loved very much. David was a true southern gentleman and scholar. David and I shared an office for four years and during that time, we forged a delightful friendship. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds. I wish I could go to lunch with David again. We talked about it many times. There was so much more that David wanted to do. My deepest sympathies to the Cochran family and David's many, many friends.
