Douglas D. Mitchum SUMMERVILLE - Douglas D. Mitchum, 79, of Summerville, widower of Lillian Dorothy Mitchum, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Trident Regional Medical Center. Friends and family may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 11 o'clock AM at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Charleston. Douglas was born on November 3, 1933 in Lane, SC, son of the late Alford Mitchum and Idell C. Mitchum. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School in Kingstree, SC. Douglas was a member for 43 years of the Free Masons and was a life member of Summerville Masonic Lodge 234. He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Summerville Lodge 2719. He retired from Charleston Naval Shipyard in 1986 with 19 years of employment as a Tool Room Mechanic Foreman. One of his favorite things to do was to ride his motorcycle. Surviving are: Two Daughters: Karen L. Corbin (Daniel) of Summerville and Sonya Mitchum Joyner (Bob) of Moncks Corner; One Son: Tony Douglas Mitchum of Summerville; Three Grandchildren: Taylor Leigh Corbin, Danielle Nicole Corbin and Hailey Marie Corbin all of Summerville. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters, Thomas Mitchum, Alton Mitchum, Ernest Mitchum, Ruby Cooper, Alice Byrd and Hazel Lewis.
