Alan Gomperts Obituary

Alan Gomperts CHARLESTON - Alan W. Gomperts, 52, of West Ashley, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011. Born in Charleston, Mr. Gomperts was the son of Joan Isaac Gomperts and the late John R. Gomperts. He was a 1977 graduate of St. Andrew's Parrish High School and was voted "Best Lineman" his senior year, where he was known as the "White Knight". Alan also attended USC. Mr. Gomperts was the owner of Al's Landscaping. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Surviving Mr. Gomperts are his mother, Joan Gomperts; brother, Eric Gomperts and his wife Lisa of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Susan Gomperts, of Falls Church, VA and Tina Keith and her husband Gary of Goose Creek. He is also survived by nieces Makayla and Sara Gomperts and nephews Kris and Kayce Drawdy and Kody Keith. Along with his father, Mr. Gomperts was preceded in death by his brother William B. Gomperts. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel, 869 St. James Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harvest Medical Clinic, 1670 Dry Dock Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405. Online condolences may be left at www.mcalister-smith.com.
