Betsy Maxey WALTERBORO - Ms. Rebecca Ray Maxey, known to everyone as "Betsy", 72, of Maxey Street, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Friday, January 31, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Edgewood Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Ms. Maxey was born August 4, 1941 in Walterboro and was a daughter of the late P.J. Maxey and Sarah Alice Bryan Maxey. She attended Colleton County schools. She was a charter member of Edgewood Baptist Church, a church she dearly loved and devoted her time to for as long as she was able. Betsy had a keen interest in current events, genealogy and politics. She was a kind-hearted person. She loved to travel, loved children and all types of animals. Surviving are: her sister, Mary Martin of Walterboro; nephew, Tiger Martin and his wife Christy of Walterboro; great niece, Becca Martin; great nephew, Nicholas Martin; her beloved church family and many cousins. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Edgewood Baptist Church, 138 Wildwood Drive, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to: Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
