PRIDGEN, Bill Bill Maurice Pridgen, 66, passed away peacefully at home with his family after a battle with brain cancer on Sunday, September 28, 2008. Bill was born December 21, 1941 in Myrtle Beach, SC, the son of Carl Columbus Pridgen and Annelle Garr Pridgen. He was valedictorian of Myrtle Beach High School. Bill was a 1964 graduate of Davidson College, where he was on the wrestling team. He graduated from Yale Law School in 1967. He then spent two years in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He worked at White & Case in New York, NY, Sea Pines Company in Hilton Head, SC, and Brown Malman in Miami, FL. He then joined with Fred Newby to found the law firm Newby and Pridgen in Myrtle Beach. Bill was a member of the Carolina Yacht Club, the Country Club of Charleston, Dunes Club of Myrtle Beach, and the Library Society of Charleston. He was a faithful member of the Friday Morning Men's Bible Study at St. Philips Church. Bill had a passionate love of his family. He was an American History buff and was well-known for his incredible memory and his ability to recite poetry. His hobbies included snow skiing and hiking in the mountains of Colorado, where he ascended several 14,000 foot peaks. He enjoyed jogging barefoot on the beach, walking the golf course and playing tennis. His love for the water kept him close to the coast his entire life. Bill was a very devoted father. He coached both of his sons' soccer teams and also volunteered as a scoutmaster. Bill and both his sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Bill is survived by his wife, Delia Hipp Pridgen; two sons, William Maurice Pridgen and Matthew Lock Pridgen; a younger brother, Roy Pridgen; two sisters-in-law, Paula Pridgen and Evelyn Pridgen; two brothers-in-law, Charley Hipp and Preston Hipp; two sisters-in-law, Jan Hipp and Laura Wichmann Hipp; many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by his older brother, Carl Pridgen. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL Tuesday between five and seven o'clock. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Bill M. Pridgen are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in First (Scots) Presbyterian Church Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at one o'clock. Interment, Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401 or Water Missions International, P.O.
