Christopher Eric Wood CHARLESTON - Chris Wood, 58, of Charleston, SC died peacefully at home on Friday evening, September 11, surrounded by family members. Chris was born on December 5, 1956 and raised in Chester, SC. He graduated from Chester High School and earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Wofford College. Chris worked for many years in the computer division of the SC Budget and Control Board in Columbia before relocating to Charleston. He was the former owner of two Wild Birds Unlimited nature stores located in Mount Pleasant and West Ashley. Chris was an avid college football fan, especially when his favorite Clemson Tigers were playing. He loved traveling, nature and the outdoors. Chris was an open and affable man who never met a stranger. He was a masterful storyteller, and equally loved listening to others' tales. His engaging personality earned him many friends from all walks of life. Chris is survived by his loving wife, Joann Sullivan Wood, of Charleston; mother, Mrs. Hazel Bowers, of Richburg, SC; brother, Jeff Wood, of Chester, SC; and an extended family of sisters- and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, September 19, at 11:00 am, located at 888 King St, Charleston, SC. Visit our guestbook at charleston
