Laura C. Pulleyn JOHNS ISLAND - Laura C. Pulleyn passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 at her residence on Johns Island. Born March 1, 1945, she was the daughter of Dr. M.M. and Melvina Thompson. Laura received a degree in nursing from the University of Toledo, Ohio. Despite retiring from the field of nursing in 1984, she remained a warm and loving caregiver to both her friends and family. She served on the Board of Directors for Pet Helpers and volunteered at the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic on Johns Island. Laura was an active member of the Johns Island Presbyterian Church and will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched. Laura is survived by her only son, Jay S. Thompson, RN, and her daughter-in-law Judith A. Thompson, RN, of North Charleston. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Laura's life at a later date and time to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to the Charleston SPCA or to Pet Helpers. John 14: 1-2 "Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions.
