Lawrence Edward Hook, Sr. N. CHARLESTON - Lawrence E. "Larry" Hook, Sr. of North Charleston, SC, died Wednesday December 17, 2014 at his home. His funeral service will be held Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the J. HENRY STUHR INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 3:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel. Larry was one of five children born to the late Sydney E. Hook and Mary L. Costner Hook of South Point Township, Gaston County NC. Larry's career began in 1943 at the height of World War II when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Upon his retirement from the U.S. Navy he continued his career in the Civil Service until his retirement in 1986 as East Coast Coordinator and World Wide Training Materials Developer. Larry was a member of Hammerton Lodge #332 AVFM, the Scottish Rite and Omar Shriners International, a leader of numerous civic organizations and a member of Cherokee Place United Methodist Church. Larry's hobbies included hunting, fishing and cooking. Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Rose B. Hook and son, Reverend Larry Hook, Jr. He is survived by his two daughters, Roseanne Leeke and Amanda Peden; and daughter-in law, Delene Cleaver. He leaves five grandchildren: Dean Hook, Dawn Aguilar, Shelly Leeke, Casey Bernstein and Joshua Peden; and six great-grandchildren: Omar Aguilar, Jr., Dabria Aguilar, Oakley Aguilar, Jessica Bernstein, Jake Peden and Rocco Walter.
