Richard Donald Murdaugh, Sr. KNIGHTSVILLE, SC - Richard Donald Murdaugh, Sr., 80, of Knightsville, SC, died Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Ralph Johnson VA Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at Dorchester Memory Gardens on Thursday morning, March 27, 2014 at 11 o'clock. Visitation will be held at Parks Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 o'clock. Flowers will be accepted. Mr. Murdaugh was born on March 22, 1934 in Charleston County, SC, a son of John George Murdaugh and Tazee Landreth Murdaugh. He served in the US Air Force and was a retired recovery operator for WestVaco. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Richard loved hunting, fishing and working in his yard and garden. He also deeply loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, David Murdaugh, Sr. (Sharon) of Goose Creek, Richie Murdaugh, Jr. (Sherri) of Givhans; one daughter, Lisa Broome (Joe) of Knightsville; five grandchildren, David, Jr. (Samantha), Amy, Trey, Todd, Tess; two great-grandchildren, Preston and Payton; two brothers, John Ellis Murdaugh of Round O, Larry Murdaugh of Fernandina, FL; one sister, Brenda Camp of Bonneau, SC and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Murdaugh was predeceased by his parents; his 1st wife, Jackie Murdaugh and his 2nd wife, Edith Murdaugh; a sister Hazel Mastersons; and two brothers, Robert (Bubba) Murdaugh and Vernon Murdaugh.
