Anthony Joseph Skatell SIMPSONVILLE, SC - Anthony Joseph Skatell, 84, husband of Helen Wilson Skatell, of Simpsonville, died Thursday, May 29, 2014. Born in Bovard, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony Joseph and Rose Faciola Skatell. Mr. Skatell served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was the founder and owner of Skatell Jewelers in Greenville since 1964. Mr. Skatell was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. He also was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for 38 years. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Debbie Skatell Chelsted and husband Jon, and Cindy Skatell Dacus and husband Tom, all of Simpsonville, and Beth Skatell Owens and husband Doug, of Spartanburg; a son, Anthony "Tony" Skatell III and wife Janie of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Jason Chelsted and wife Lida, Taylor Chelsted and Heather Mayes, Kristen Skatell LeQuire and husband Josh, Anthony "Joey" Skatell IV, Alex Skatell, Jordan and Claire Kruse, Ryan Dacus and wife Amy and Eric, Tyler and Elizabeth Owens; and great-grandchildren, Grayson, Jacob and Chloe Chelsted, Ben and Laura LeQuire and Emery Dacus. Mr. Skatell was preceded in death by a grandson, Drew Dacus and a daughter-in-law, Laura Hoke Skatell. A vigil service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, 1604 NE Main St., Simpsonville, SC 29681, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home Southeast. The Rite of Committal will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park in Simpsonville. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 2252 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville, SC 29681 or St. Jude's Hospital for Children, 332 N. Lauderdale St., Memphis, TN 38105.
