Charles "Pops" Timothy Powell SUMMERVILLE - Charles passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 24, 2013. He was born on September 22, 1938, in Lake City, SC, the son of John T. Powell and Annie Frances Dennis Powell. He served both the City of Charleston Fire Department as well as the city's Police Department for several years. He was known as "King Street Charlie" for the beat he walked before he started driving the "crash wagon." He also worked for G&P Trucking until his retirement due to disability. He is survived by his wife Judy of 45 years, his son Chip Powell and Maria, son Patrick and Angela Biggs, and daughter, Brandy P. Jewell and Tim. He is also survived by his grandsons Mason and Dallas Jewell, Connor and Colby Blade Powell, Brandon and Kyle Biggs, and his great-granddaughter, Lillian. He is also survived by his sister Susan P. Conner and Travis. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and a sister. Graveside services at St. Lawrence Cemetery on Friday, April 5, 2013, at 1:00 pm.
