Aileen H. Welch MACEDONIA, SC - Aileen "Babe" Hood Welch, 84, of Macedonia, SC, a retired rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service, died Thursday afternoon at the Hospice Center of Charleston. Her funeral will be 2:00 PM this Saturday afternoon, March 30, 2013, in the Providence Baptist Church, Macedonia. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, directed by DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Mrs. Welch was born November 23, 1928, in Moncks Corner, SC, a daughter of Fritz Hood and Marion Guerry Hood. She was a graduate of Macedonia High School and a member of Providence Baptist Church where she served on the Disaster Relief Team. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of Morning Star Chapter 121 OES. Mrs. Welch enjoyed reading, traveling, hunting, and fishing. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Welch, and she was the widow of James H. "Jim" Welch. Surviving are, two daughters, Gail W. Williams and her husband, Eddie, of Moncks Corner, and Kim W. Hughes and her husband, George, of Macedonia; three sisters, Pauline "Toby" Villaponteaux and Barbara "Bobby" Dangerfield both of Cordesville, and Eloise Judy of Macedonia; a brother, Dickie Brunson of Bonneau; and a grandson, Jimmy Hughes.
