Gordon Nettles

Gordon Nettles RUFFIN, SC - Mr. Gordon Nettles, 68, entered into eternal rest Thursday afternoon, June 8, 2017, while surrounded by his loving family at his home in the Sniders Community of Ruffin while under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina. Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, June 11, 2017, from Shiloh Baptist Church, 10565 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin. Interment will follow in the churchyard. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service beginning at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the church sanctuary. Born October 26, 1948, in Colleton County, he was a son of the late Brantley Lawrence Nettles and the late Lorene Enith Roberts Nettles. He was retired and was a lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he had served as the Sunday School Treasurer. He was an avid Nascar fan and will always be remembered for the love he had for gardening and riding his lawn mower. Surviving are: his wife of forty-one years, Mrs. Florence Fraser Nettles; a son, Brandon Nettles of Walterboro; two daughters, Stacy Hawk (Daniel) of Ruffin and Holly Roberts Cross (Daniel) of Moncks Corner; a brother, Emory Nettles (Patricia) of Ruffin; and two grandchildren, Daniel Hawk, III and Arlene Hawk; as well as his best buddy and K9 companion, Chief. He is survived by his brothers-in-law, Witsell Fraser, Fred Fraser, and Gerald Fraser (Lynn); sisters-in-law, Kathy Flader (Lew), Mae Hancock (Roy), Delores Stevens, Frances Herndon (Jimmy), and Frances Bazzle; an Aunt, Cecil Reynolds; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Flowers will be accepted, or for those that so desire, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in memory to the following: Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 10565 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin, South Carolina 29475; or to Colleton County Relay For Life, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406; or to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 134 Bells Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
