Belle (Howe) Stoddard HUNTINGDON, PA - Belle (Howe) Stoddard, 74, a resident of Westminster Woods, Huntingdon, PA, since 2017, and formerly of Birmingham, AL for over 45 years, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Born February 24, 1943 in Hopewell, VA, she was the daughter of the late Gedney M. Howe, Jr. and Marybelle (Higgins) Howe. She is survived by a daughter, Belle Tuten and her husband, Jim; and two grandsons, Thomas and Oscar Tuten, all of Huntingdon, PA. She is also survived by three brothers, Gedney M. Howe, III, Robert G. Howe, and Donald H. Howe and his wife, Greta, all of Charleston, SC. She was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Caroline Stoddard. While residing in Huntingdon, PA, Ms. Stoddard attended the Stone Church of the Brethren. She was a 1961 graduate of Rivers High School, Charleston, SC, and a graduate of the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC. In 1978, she graduated from the Cumberland School of Law, Birmingham, AL. Most recently, Ms. Stoddard was employed as Director of Lawyering and Legal Reasoning at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law, Birmingham, AL, retiring in 2017. As a resident of Birmingham, AL, she served on the School Board of the Birmingham City Schools in the 1980's. Ms. Stoddard enjoyed family history and genealogy. A memorial service to be held at the Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon, PA, is being planned with details to be announced at a future date. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in remembrance of Belle H.
