James Brown Obituary
James M. Brown, 80, Charlotte, died February 24, 2012 at CMC Main in Charlotte. He was born in Pickens County, SC, to William T. and Alma Smith Brown, the seventh of eight children, all whom have predeceased James except Mary.
James graduated from Berea High School in 1949. He served in the Marine Corps during 1951 - 1953. James entered Davidson College in January, 1954 and graduated in May, 1957. Following graduation James began his career with Wachovia Bank and Trust Company in June, 1957 and retired in 1994 after 37 years of loyal and dedicated service. James was a proud member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church since 1958.
Mr. Brown is survived by his son, James M. Brown, Jr. and his daughter, Julie E. Brown, both of Charlotte; his sister, Mary Hendrix of Greenville, SC; two sisters-in-law, and eleven nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Clara Lankford Brown.
Funeral services will be private at Heritage Funeral Home with burial at Forest Lawn East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Durham Memorial Baptist Church, 1601 Toddville Road, Charlotte, NC 28214 or the charity of your choice.
Heritage Funeral Home - Weddington Chapel has been entrusted.

Jim Brown was a teacher & mentor to me throughout my Wachovia career. He was an excellent banker, but a better man. It was a privilege to have served under him & with him at Wachovia. He is, quite possibly, the best man that I have ever known. A man who truly lived his great faith daily in action & word. I will miss his earthly friendship, but look forward to seeing him again.

Our sincerest sympathy to you all. We have always thouhyght so highly of Jimmy. He was such a good man. He was an excellent Sunday School teacher, a man who loved our Lord. We are blessed by having known him. There's no doubt he's with our Lord now. May God's love comfort you all.

To the Brown Family.
Your father was very special friend to me. His amazing strength and his love of God taught all of us some valuable lessons. During the Church services,we often sat next to each other. His spot will not be filled so easily by others. To his Family, his love will continue to grow in your hearts. For the rest of us,another special member from our Church is now at Peace. We look to the clouds and smile. Knowing that one day, we will see our brother in Christ again. God Bless His Family.
