Frederick Evans Obituary

Frederick Everett Evans DAVIDSON - Mr. Frederick Everett Evans, 101, of Davidson, NC died December 14, 2013, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. Fred was born July 19, 1912 in New York City, NY. He was a son of the late Frederick E. Evans, Sr. and Margaret Murray Evans. He was married to Gertrude "Sis" Evans for 64 wonderful years. A US Army World War II veteran and recipient of two purple hearts, Fred fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Evans was owner of Evans Art in Flowers, which he inherited from his father. It was the oldest FTD in New York City. Fred moved to North Carolina in 2002, and lived at the Pines where he was affectionately known as the "Candy Man" for the treats he would leave outside his door for all to enjoy. He had a joyous spirit and kind heart and will be dearly missed by all. A visitation will be held at the Davidson Living Room, The Pines at Davidson, Friday, December 27, 2013 from 4:00 - 5:00pm. A Memorial Service to celebrate Fred's life and burial will be in the spring at Woodlawn Cemetery, New York. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Jacques of Doylestown, PA and Nancy Dellinger of Davidson, NC; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Ross Evans of Mechanicsburg, PA and sister-in-law, Dorothy Evans of Westerville, OH. Memorials may be made to the Benevolence Fund @ The Pines in Davidson, 400 Avinger Lane, Davidson, N.C. 28036, Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078 or Hospice & Palliative Care of Lake Norman, 705 Griffith Street Suite 203, Davidson, N.C. 28036.
