Alexander, David Morton - Salisbury  
David Morton Alexander CHARLOTTE - David Morton Alexander, age 86 and U.S. Army veteran died peacefully the morning of May 13, 2016 at the Hefner Veterans Administration Medical Center, Salisbury, North Carolina. Born in Charlotte, NC, Mr. Alexander attended Pfeiffer College and later graduated from UNC, Chapel Hill. He spent several years working for the Screen Actors Guild in Hollywood, CA and later worked on Broadway in New York City. This work resulted in a lifelong love of the theater and movie industry. He had the unique ability to recall facts and trivia about actors and actresses and their films which was fascinating to all who knew him. After returning to his beloved North Carolina he lived in Goldsboro and then in Salisbury. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Nora Alexander and siblings and is survived by his niece, Debra McIver and husband CW, nephew Rusty Alexander and grandnephew, Dylan Alexander and wife Kelly of Charlotte and many dear neighbors and friends. He will be remembered for his loving, caring and nurturing personality that will be missed by all. A memorial service to celebrate his life is planned for 3:30PM, May 28 at St, Luke's Episcopal Church in Salisbury, NC.

Atkins, Shirley Frasheur - Gastonia  
Shirley Frasheur Atkins, age 82, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016. She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late Joe David and Iva Chaney Frasheur. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, David Lee Atkins. Mrs. Atkins was a loving mother and mamaw and will be dearly missed by those left to cherish her memory. She is survived by her son, David Scott Atkins and his wife, Kimberly; and two granddaughters, Tiffany Nicole Atkins of Gastonia and Breanna Taran Arnoczky and husband, Derek, of Rexburg, Idaho. The family would like to express their gratitude for the professional care, love and compassion shown to them by Dr. Needell and the administrations and staff members of Life Enrichment Day Care and Gastonia Care and Rehab Center. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. Burial will be private.
