Patera, Susan - Concord  
Susan McClellan Patera CONCORD - Susan McClellan Patera, 73, of Concord, died unexpectedly at her home on July 30, 2015. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 5, at 12:00 noon at the Salisbury National Cemetery. Her family will celebrate her life with a receiving of friends at Whitley's Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Susan was born August 2, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN, a daughter of the late Donald and Cleo Haas McClellan. She worked for the Charlotte FOP prior to managing a Mecklenburg Co. ABC store. Charlotte Withers Johnstone Pettit "Mickie" January 1, 1936 - July 31, 2015 CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Pettit passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and friends on Friday, July 31. Mickie was the first baby born in Charlotte on January 1, 1936, to the late Cleatus Braxton Withers and Ella Tallent Withers and was named after the city. Her life was devoted to her family. She was very involved in community activities, belonging to various groups and helping the schools and the neighborhood. Once her children were older she began a fulfilling career at the Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds Office and worked there until her retirement. After retirement she was employed by CPCC teaching Notary Classes. She enjoyed her retirement and spent her time traveling to visit family, going on day trips with her friends and nurturing her beautiful gardens. All that knew her will remember Mickie as a giving person who always put others first in her thoughts and actions. In addition to her parents, Mickie was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Withers Moore. She is survived by a sister, Barbara Withers Fowler of Peachtree City, GA; 3 children, Jan Johnstone Humble (Greg) of Liberty, NC, Jill Johnstone Dennis of Toronto, Ontario and Tim Johnstone (Cydney) of Richmond, VA; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Dennis of Toronto, Holleigh Humble Burkhart (Aaron) of Bellingham, WA, Scott Humble of Long Beach, CA and Cory Johnstone (Anna Mae) of Clearwater, FL; 2 great-grandsons, Zachary Dennis and Curran Burkhart; 2 nieces, 3 nephews, 7 great-grand nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thanks to her beloved neighbors and friends who were always there to offer a helping hand. A celebration of her life will be held at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, August 4th at JB Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 Sharon Amity Rd, Charlotte, NC. A reception will follow the service. A private interment will be held by the family at a later date. Otis Miller Pickett, Jr. CHARLOTTE - Otis Miller Pickett, Jr., 59, of Charlotte, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015. He was the son of the late Otis Miller Pickett, Sr. and the late Patricia Long Pickett. He was a faithful father, loyal friend, and avid tennis player. Otis was a member of The Charlotte Indoor Tennis Club. He is survived by his two daughters: Trisha Vlieg and husband Paul, Lisa Foreman and husband Nathanael; son: Scotty Butler and wife Cathy; brother: Rick Ford; grandchildren: Maddison, Makayla, Mya, Mianna, Murphy, and Ethan; special friends: Scott and Jessica Ford and Chris Dry. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015, at 11 AM at Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 AM on Friday at the funeral home. A special thank you to Mark Browder, Diane Elder, and Doug Hicks for all of their support. Frances Pistolis CHARLOTTE - Frances Pistolis, age 81, of Charlotte, NC passed away on July 25, 2015. She is survived by her two sons George J. Pistolis (Dena) and Gus J. Pistolis (Christie). Frances is also survived by her six grandchildren and her three sisters, Nia (George) Patronis, Litsa (Tom) Tsoukas and Voula (John) Kontopanos and her brother Sam (Carolyn) Daise. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jim Pistolis. Funeral services for Frances will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 11:00AM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203, with her Trisagion from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the church. Archie Norman Price MONROE - Archie Norman Price, 77, died Saturday, July 25, 2015. Archie was born in Union County, NC, December 25, 1937 son of the late Jesse Ezra and Inez Flowe Price. He was the retired owner of Jud's Restaurant and was loved by his family, neighbors and friends. Archie was preceded in death by his wife Ann Parker Price in 2014, brothers Kenneth and David Price and sisters Lora Mae Crooke and Sherry Tyson. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Price, Bessie - Matthews  
Bessie Price MATTHEWS - Bessie Price, 95, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2015. Bessie was born August 25, 1919 in Monroe, NC and was the daughter of the late William Neil and Mollie Horne. Mrs. Price was a very dedicated person to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and faithful witness of His love and care for her. Bessie was also a loving mother to Ray her son and husband Burns for 56 years. She was also a "caregiver" to her sister Fannie for years before her death. She was an active member of Mount Harmony Baptist Church for 54 years. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews along with many friends. Bessie will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Burns Price; son Ray S. Price; and sister Fannie A. Bittle. A visitation with the family will be from 2-3pm on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, 2817 Mt. Harmony Church Rd., Matthews, NC 28105. A funeral service will immediately follow in the church. Interment will be in Sharon Memorial Park. Price, Ida - Concord  
Ida Louise Johnson Price CONCORD - On Thursday afternoon, July 30, 2015, surrounded by her loving family at home, Louise Price woke and took her Savior's hand when He called for her. Born Ida Louise Johnson in Middletown, Ohio, on August 20, 1926, she was the daughter of Howard L. and Alma Nichols Johnson. She graduated from Middletown High School, Class of 1944, and became legal secretary for Tom Stubbs. On March 16, 1946 she married James B. Price. In December 1958, she and her husband founded Faith Artificial Limb Company which later became Faith Prosthetic-Orthotic Services, Inc. From 1964 to 2012 Louise worked full time in the company, retiring as CEO at the age of 86. Louise was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Concord where she taught children's Sunday School, was a circle leader, and treasurer of the Blanche Stewart Sunday School class for 25 years. In 2010, First Presbyterian Women of the Church presented her a life membership. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Price, Sr., a son-in-law, Jack Huddle; an infant sister; a brother, Omer William Johnson; and a brother-in-law, Donald G. Heffron. Her survivors include: daughters, Pam Tolen (Robert), Concord, Eadie Churchill (Bob), Wilmington, DE, Carol Lynn Rorie (Rick), Mint Hill; son, Jim Price, Jr. (Gerri) Harrisburg. Grandchildren include: Kim Brouillette, Concord, Jason Huddle (Kristy), Harrrisburg, Natalie Kidd, Philadelphia, PA, Robert Kidd (Dani), Wilmington, DE, Mary-Louise Foss (Mike), Brooklyn, NY, Ben Price (Jacque), Charlotte, and David Price. Great-grandchildren: Ashlyn and Kelsey Brouilette, Joshua and Jackson Huddle, Alexandra and Charlotte Kidd, and James O Foss. Great-great-grandchild, Celia Brouilette. Louise is also survived by her sister and brother, Doris Heffron and Howard L. Johnson, Jr. (Marilyn) of Middletown, Ohio. Extended family members include Carol Parish, Concord, Ron Kidd, Columbus, Ohio, Vivian Rorie, Mint Hill; many nieces, nephews and cousins who all were dear to Louise. The Price family would like to give special thanks to Warden L. Woodard, III, MD of Levine Cancer Institute CMC-University and his staff and also to the Charlotte area Hospice Services. A celebration of Louise's life will take place Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, officiated by Reverend Peter Bynum. Interment will be at Rocky River Presbyterian Church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 3, from6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord and an hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Phillips-Groves-Foundation ( www.phillipsgroves.org ), or the charity of one's choice. Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the Price family.
