Bowman Jr., L.G. - Archdale  
L.G. Bowman, Jr. ARCHDALE - L.G. Bowman, Jr., 87, of Archdale, passed at 3:49 p.m. June 20, 2015, at his residence in Sherrills Ford. Mr. Bowman enjoyed an extended life at home with his family and his caregivers. He was born November 19, 1927 in High Point, a son of the late L.G. "Gid" Bowman, Sr. and Ollie Peace Bowman. On July 23, 1948, he was married to the late Lula Freeland Bowman of High Point. Mr. Bowman was the owner and truck driver of Trinity Lumber Company for many years. He was a loving and caring husband, father and friend. Mr. Bowman was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, mother and father, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Wesley Bowman, and brother, Aubrey Bowman, of Archdale. Junior, as he was lovingly called, was a positive force to the end of his life, there being no compromise in his nature. He is gone; he has answered the drum taps on the eternal shores. Surviving are his two daughters, Laura Anne Bowman-Messick and husband Victor H. Messick of Sherrills Ford, and Michelle B. Cox and husband Hugh Ronald Cox of New London; three brothers, Pete Bowman of Archdale, Don Bowman and wife Brenda of Thomasville, and Dean Bowman and wife Irene of Archdale; one granddaughter, Rebecca Blackford and husband Joshua Blackford of Lincolnton and four great-grandchildren. The celebration of Mr. Bowman's life will be held at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Trinity on Friday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. The service will be conducted by Reverend Dr. Roger Weisner. The visitation will be held from 1:00 to 1:45 on Friday, June 26, at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 4732 Robbins Country Road, Trinity. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorials be directed to the Sunshine Kids Foundation. Their goal is to add quality of life to children with cancer by providing them with exciting, positive group activities. Brackett, Gladys - Charlotte  
Gladys Lee Brackett CHARLOTTE - Gladys Lee Brackett, 77, of Charlotte died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at her home. A native of Lumberton, NC, Mrs. Brackett was born to the late Ernest Lee and Evelyn Mayes Lee on November 7, 1937. She retired from Travelers Insurance after 30 years of service. Mrs. Brackett was preceded in death by her husband, Dickie Brackett in 2006. Mrs. Brackett is survived by her children, Jeffrey Brackett, Sandy Foster and husband Joe all of Charlotte; brothers, Franklin Lee of Charlotte, Robert, Jerry and Roger Dale Lee all of Lumberton; grandchildren, Connie Lee Burney, Cody Lee Brackett, Dillon and Alaina Foster; great-grandchildren, Weston and Macie Burney. A funeral service will be held 2:00p.m., Friday, June 26, in the chapel at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte with Dr. Joe Brown officiating. No graveside committal will be held. The family will receive friends 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m., this evening at the funeral home. Bray, Brenda - Troutman  
Brenda Bray TROUTMAN - Mrs. Brenda Jean Shorts Bray, 66, of Troutman, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015. She was born on March 3, 1949 in Meadville, PA, to the late Ruth Doud and Norman Shorts. She attended Slippery Rock University. During her early years, she worked as a flight attendant for Eastern and United Airlines, and was also in management for Eastern Airlines. Besides being a homemaker, she also owned several businesses. A devoted woman of faith, she was strong, courageous and hopeful. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved gardening, nature, and fellowship, she made her life, home and spirit available to all of us who were blessed enough to embrace it. She is survived by her husband, Buddy Bray; sons, Michael Therrien (Nathan Rickel) of Palm Springs, CA and Justin Bray (Kristy) of Clearwater, FL; daughter, Andrea Bray Scales (Toby) of Charlotte; sisters, Connie Cash of Mooresville and Deb Nantz of Clemmons; brother, Tom Shorts of Clemson, SC; and grandchildren, Caylen and Chase Scales. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25th at Troutman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26th, at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church in Mooresville with the Rev. Andrea Conder officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Brennan, Charles - Matthews  
Charles Joseph Brennan MATTHEWS - Charles (Chuck) Joseph Brennan, age 80, of Matthews, passed away on June 26, 2015. He was born February 18, 1935, in Utica, NY, to the late Charles Frederick and Marion Daly Brennan. He is predeceased by his daughter-in-law Carrie Brennan. Chuck loved and took great pride in his children's and grandchildren's activities and accomplishments. He was an avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils and Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed watching all sports on TV and made it a fun family gathering. Chuck also enjoyed fishing, playing golf and was an avid reader. He was also a great storyteller. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary; two sisters, Mary Ellen Gorton and Alice Brennan; six children, Sheila (Jeff Gaeckle), Joe, Anita (Randy Riessen), Eileen (Steven Eddings), Danny, Patrick (David Johnson); and six grandchildren, Daniel (Brittany), Brennan, Erin, and Anna Gaeckle, Jay Brennan, and Charlie Eddings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 30, at 11:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers please donate in memory of Chuck to the charity of your choice. Brown, Stanley - Vienna  
Stanley J. Brown VIENNA, VA - Stanley J. Brown passed on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the age of 70, at Capital Caring Hospice in Arlington, VA, after a long and courageous battle with bladder cancer. Stan served with distinction as Vice President of Business Development for Omega World Travel in Fairfax, VA since 2002. His career spanned more than 50 years starting in 1964 with Eastern Airlines where he held managerial and director level positions in sales, marketing, and operations, including regional sales director and the Vice President of Sales for the new Continental-Eastern organization. Later he held various VP positions with Eastern before working with Oasis, Kiwi International Airlines, and Gotham Media Group. He started his own aviation consulting, marketing and advertising services company, the Brown Group, before joining Omega. Stan is survived by his wife, Cheryl, sisters Susie Floyd of Farmington, CT and Mibie Smith of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law Nancy Matthews of Charlotte, NC, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews Relatives and friends are invited to Stan's life celebration at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Monday, June 29, from 6-8 PM and where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. Brundage, Anna - Belmont  
Anna Stephens Brundage BELMONT - Anna Stephens Brundage passed with peace and grace June 25, 2015, with family and loved ones at her side. She was predeceased by her husbands Frank Brundage and Holland Stephens. Anna is survived by her brother Claude Howell and Jimmy (Laurel) Howell; children Debbie (Jimmy) Tuttle, John (Amy) Saunders and Anissa Saunders; grandchildren Jamie Tuttle, Drew Tuttle, Shelby Saunders, Jack Saunders, Chloe and Izzy. Anna was born in Suffolk, VA, attended Churchland High School and the University of South Carolina and then settled in Columbia, SC where she raised her children, volunteered faithfully in her church and served her community. A service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Cramerton, NC, 235 8th Avenue, on July 1, at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Stephens Center, 616 N. Church St., Suite B, Livingston, Tennessee 38570. Heavens gates are open and the angles are singing and so she enters a new child of God free from the chains that bound her on this earth. Praise God!

Bye, Benjamin - Matthews  
Benjamin Paxson Bye MATTHEWS - Benjamin Bye, 82, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2015. He was born on November 11, 1932 in Fairfield County, SC to the late Louis Alfred Bye, Jr. and Edna Young Bye. Benjamin was an active member of Calvary Church, Derita Masonic Lodge and the Professional Picture Framers Association. Benjamin retired from Bell South Telephone Company in 1987 as an outside plant engineer following a career of 36 years. Before and after retirement, Benjamin owned and operated Matthews Picture Frames for over 30 years. He had many devoted customers whom he loved like family. His work included framing the certificate for the annual Shrine bowl game for over 20 years. In 1983, he earned the title of Certified Picture Framer. Benjamin will also be remembered for serving in the US Navy during the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier USS Valley Forge CVA-45. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Medal. Benjamin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Betty Rhodes Bye; son Greg Bye; brothers Louis A Bye III and George Bye. He is survived by his son Jeff Bye (Nicole); brother Ed Bye; sisters-in-law Louise Cox, Sue Deming and Barbara Bye; grandchild Ava Claire Bye. Ben Bye loved everyone and was adored by everyone who knew him, especially his family, especially his son. He was always happy, always smiling and he never complained. He was grateful for every day he had on earth and he spread joy everywhere he went. Visitation will be held at Calvary Church, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, June 26, 2015. Service will follow beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private at Forest Lawn East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name at shrinershospitals.org . Elizabeth N. Campbell CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Campbell, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on June 24, 2015, at Novant-Presbyterian Hospital. She was born on March 11, 1935 in Charlotte, NC, daughter of the late O.L. Newton and Nettie S. Newton. Mrs. Campbell finished high school in Chester, SC and graduated from Montreat College in Black Mountain, NC in 1957. She retired after a 30+ year career with Celanese. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by two husbands, H. Carlton Hindsman and John Campbell; and her sister Linda Newton. She is survived by her brother Fred Newton and his wife, Nancy; three nephews, Danny and his wife, Betsy, Scott and his wife, Sonya, and Gary and his wife Renee; and a number of cousins. Funeral will be at the graveside on Friday, June 26, 2015, at 1:00 PM in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery. Case, Donnie - Matthews  
Donnie L. Case MATTHEWS - Donnie L. Case, age 71, of Matthews, departed this life on Thursday June 25, 2015, shortly after noon at Presbyterian Medical Center of Charlotte; attended by 15 close family, following a 10 year battle with cancer. Donnie was born in Toppenish, Washington on January 15th, 1944. He was the first child of Paul and Goldie Case. Donnie moved to Charlotte in June 1953 with his parents and brother, Wayne, so his father could join the family piano business, Case Bros. Piano Company of Charlotte. Donnie graduated from Garinger High School in 1963. Immediately following high school, Donnie served seven years in the Army National Guard Artillery operating 175 Howitzers. Donnie went on to serve 12 years on the Charlotte Police Department. Donnie is best known throughout the Charlotte area for his 52 years in the family piano business as a master certified piano tuner/technician. He was a very active member in the Providence Baptist church community for many years. Donnie will be remembered for his dedication to helping people, his commitment to family, love of life and his easy going personality. Donnie could often be found at the lake on weekends with family or in his garage tending to his automobiles. Donnie was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in early 2005 before a long ten year battle with the disease. Special thanks to the Providence Baptist community for their care and support through his struggle with cancer. Donnie is survived by his beloved wife Sylvia and his brother Wayne, son Aaron, daughters Tara, Lilli, Chelsea, Gaelyn and Kelly, as well as 14 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Rd., Charlotte NC 28211 at 11 in the morning Monday, June 29th, 2015. Condolences can be provided directly to Providence Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be provide to Providence Baptist music fund or the Multiple Myeloma Foundation in the name Donnie Case.
