Collins, David - Mooresville  
David Edward Collins "Dave" MOORESVILLE - David "Dave" Edward Collins, 53, of Mooresville, NC, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at his home. He was born on March 9, 1962 in Evergreen Park, IL to Ronald Daniel and Jacqueline Lang Collins. Dave graduated from Georgia Tech. He was a member of Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree. Dave began working in 1999 for Polymer Group Inc./Avintiv, Mooresville, NC as a Director of Global Strategic Sourcing. He was talented in many musical instruments including the saxophone, flute and clarinet. He was a great cook specializing in homemade pasta. He loved soccer and coached a soccer team. Dave was a member of Boy Scouts of America. He helped with many community events. His great sense of humor will be remembered by all that met him. Dave was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, Dave is survived by his wife, Ann Maijub Collins; son, Michael Collins; brother, Dr. Kenneth Collins (Marianna) and their son, Matthew; mother-in-law, Annabella Maijub and father-in-law, Dr. A. Gabriel Maijub; brother-in-law, Dr. John Maijub (Elizabeth) and their daughter, Kendall. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, July 28, from 6-8 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Mass will be on Wednesday, July 29, at 11:00 AM at St. Therese Catholic Church with Rev. Vincent C. Curtin, S.J. officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Parkersburg, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 4701 Hedgemore Dr., Suite 810, Charlotte, NC 28209 or the Autism Society Foundation, 4340 East-West Hwy., Suite 350, Bethesda, MD 20814. Joshua Shane Collins "Josh" MOORESVILLE - Joshua "Josh" Shane Collins, 24, of Mooresville, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Born November 6, 1990, he was the son of Brian and Amy Deal Collins, of Mooresville. Josh was a mechanic for Coulwood Tire, Charlotte. He was a loving son and great big brother. In addition to his parents, Josh is survived by his sister, Kimsey Collins, of the home; paternal grandparents, Ronald and Terrie Collins, of Charlotte; maternal grandfather, Jerry Deal, of Huntersville; maternal grandmother, Sally Scott and husband, Bernard, of Charlotte; great grandparents, Mildred Lawing, Allen Love and Vance Deal; aunts, Heather Collins Saylor and Margaret Matchen and husband, Rob; cousins, Julia and Caroline Williams and Logan Matchen. A Celebration of Josh's life will be held at 6 PM, Friday, July 24, 2015, at The Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Pitts officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 - 8 PM following the service. Cook-Mbah, Ola - Charlotte  
Ola Marie Cook-Mbah CHARLOTTE - Ola Marie Cook-Mbah, 70, passed away on July 18, 2015, at home. She was born to the late John and Lodie Cook on October 7, 1944 in Atlanta, GA. A graduate of Bailey-Johnson High School, Ola went on to attend Tuskegee Institute, receiving her BS degree. She then attended Michigan State University and received her MA Degree in Special Education. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. In later years, Ola also served as Director of Mental Health in Midland, Michigan, and as Staff Supervisor and Branch Manager at ResCare in Concord, NC. Ola is survived by her husband of 38 years, Godfrey C. Mbah, Ph.D.; a daughter, Nkeiruka, and her husband Aaron Bakke of Chicago, IL; a son, Obinna Mbah of Fletcher, NC; grandchildren Langston and Celestina. Also left to cherish her memory: a sister Laura Hall, three brothers, John Cook, Jr., Tony Cook, and Rev. Dr. Dwight Cook. A Mass for Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 24th, at 1 pm at Saint Matthews Catholic Church in Charlotte.

Crawford, Michael - Charlotte  
Michael Alan Crawford CHARLOTTE - Michael, 41, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015. Born April 6, 1974, Michael was a native Charlottean but also loved the exploration of new places. He was a true artist at heart. His medium varied between painting, sculpture, woodworking and music. He is survived by his mother, Deborah B. Crawford of Monroe; his father, Gregory A. Crawford and stepmother, Lynn Crawford of Waxhaw; his brother, Rembert Crawford and family; and his sister, Brooke Crawford and family. Michael's light will continue to shine through his family and friends. He will always be truly missed. A service to celebrate Michael's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, in Harry & Bryant's "Chapel in the Oaks", 500 Providence Road. Henrietta Marie Moore Dawkins CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Henrietta Marie Moore Dawkins, daughter of the late Henry Humphrey and Regina Moore, was born in Huntersville, NC on May 10, 1925. She departed this life on July 18, 2015. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2015, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 7237 Tuckaseegee Rd., Charlotte, NC. Rev. Dr. Casey R. Kimbrough, the Pastor will be officiating. Visitation from 11:30-12. Interment will follow in York Memorial Park cemetery. Alexander is serving the family.

Devane, William - Shelby  
William Andres Devane SHELBY - Bill was born July 28, 1933 in Fayetteville, NC to William A. and Janie Stevens DeVane. He graduated from Darlington School in 1951, attended N.C. State and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a BS in Business in 1955. He earned his CPA designation in Charlotte. He worked for Riegel Paper Company in Wilmington, NC, Cherry, Bekaert, and Holland Accounting Firm in Charlotte, and traveled extensively in his Public Accounting capacity. He served in the North Carolina National Guard, and was a member of Shelby Presbyterian Church, Shelby, NC. Bill was predeceased by his parents and by his son, William A DeVane III. He is survived by his devoted wife, Melissa of the Home, his sister, Mary D. Welsh of Fargo, ND, nieces, Janie Schubart and Liz Sterling and their families; step-children, Shannon Blackley (Chip) of Shelby, Laurie Parker (Charles) of Hatteras, and Ben Burroughs (Todd) of Rochester, NY, step-grandchildren, Gracie and Shem Blackley, Rennie, Cate, and Josie Parker, his first wife Garret DeVane, and his beloved canine companions Harry and Oliver. Bill loved travel, yard projects, concerts, aircraft, flying, electronics, computers, and botany. He cherished spending time with his family. A memorial service will be held at a later date, and a marker will be placed in Sardis Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Charlotte. The family's many many thanks to all who supported and made Bill comfortable during his brief illness; Carolinas Healthcare-Cleveland, including the ICU Unit, and Hospice at Wendover. Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, Cleveland County Humane Society Shelter, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or to the charity of one's choice. Eugene Lee Dominy "Gene" CONCORD - Visitation for Eugene Lee Dominy, 76, will be held at Pope Funeral Home, 521 S. Congress Street, Winnsboro, SC 29180, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, with a graveside service following at 4:00 p.m. at Fairfield Memorial Cemetery. Gene passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Born in Winnsboro, he was the son of the late Herbert Lee Dominy and Delma Edenfield Dominy. He will be dearly missed by both his family and many friends. Gene is survived by his sister, Jacqueline Dominy Baxley and sister-in-laws, Dot Bunch Dominy and Delores Dominy; nieces and nephews, Randall Baxley (Sherry), Vicki Baxley Camp (Phillip), Marsha Dominy Jolly (Billy), Terryll Dominy (Carol), Yolanda Dominy Giem (Gene), Theresa Dominy Levinsky (Robert), Wilbur Dupre Dominy, Jr., and Deborah Dominy Sartor; cousins Ann Dean Gann (Larry), Patsy Dinkins, June Hooks (Wendel) and Kenny Strickland (Pam). He was predeceased by his brothers Walsteen Dominy and Wilbur Dupre Dominy. Memorials may be made in Gene's memory to either a charity of one's choice or the American Cancer Society. Clyde Irdell Dunlap, Jr. THOMASVILLE - Clyde Irdell Dunlap Jr., 89, of Thomasville, formerly of Kannapolis, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Piedmont Crossing. Born September 16, 1925 in Waxhaw, he is a son of the late Clyde Irdell Dunlap, Sr. and Alice McGuirt Dunlap. Mr. Dunlap retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon Inc. after 50 years of service. He attended First Wesleyan Church and served in the United States Navy, Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and UNC-CH fan. His hobbies included gardening and carpentry. Mr. Dunlap is survived by his wife of 66 years, Zephia Walker Dunlap; a daughter Teresa Dunlap Griffin and husband George of High Point; and grandson Brian Griffin of Chapel Hill. He is also survived by three sisters, Agnes (Mollie) Furr, Geraldine (Dean) Gray, Betty Willis, and one brother Joe M. Dunlap. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dunlap was preceded in death by brothers, Winfield, Donald and Charles; sisters Margaret Howell, Gladys Griffin, Sue Hargett, Ruth Cress, and Billie McClain. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Piedmont Crossing for their competent and loving care of Mr. Dunlap during the time he resided there. Derrick Evans CHARLOTTE - Derrick Evans was born in Gary, IN, on June 12, 1958. He died peacefully on July 23, 2015. Derrick was preceded in death by his mother Flossie. He is survived by his loving father Jessie Lee; son and daughter-in-law Daniel and Margie, and their daughters Millani, Samirrah, and Kailynn; daughter Trelles; brother Jessie and wife Barbara; brother Mario and wife Dorothy; and sisters Canary Mason, Evelyn Adkins, and Rogeta McKanders. Derrick is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many spiritual brothers and sisters.
