Mr. William Jeremiah Forney, 79, of Charlotte, passed away on September 15, 2016 at Novant Presbyterian. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Grier Memorial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm. Burial will take place on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the National Cemetery, Salisbury. Grier Funeral Service, 115 John McCarroll Avenue is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Larry Fuller, 80 of Charlotte, passed away on September 13, 2016 at CMC-Main. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Grier Memorial Chapel. Garner, Annette Worley - Harrisburg  
Annette Worley Garner, 79, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Best of Care Assisted Living in Kannapolis. A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm, Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Tim Bostick. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:45 at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. Annette was born on December 18, 1936 in Hayesville, NC to the late and Carrie Ledford Worley and Harley Worley. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Earl S. Owens; second husband, Charles M. Garner.; and 7 brothers. Annette was an elementary school teacher in Charlotte, then a teacher and principal for many years at Havelock Elementary. She won "Teacher of the Year", then "Principal of the Year", and touched the lives of many young children and their parents. Reading was one of her favorite hobbies and she also enjoyed spending time with her family and camping. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Brown and husband, Mark; son, Stuart Owens and wife, Mercedes; grandchildren, Justin Brown, Jason Brown; great-grandchildren, Peayton and Daniel Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Harrisburg Presbyterian Church-Cemetery Fund, 4815 NC-49, Harrisburg, NC 28075, or to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.

Garrett, Barbara Jean (Kesler) - Charlotte  
Barbara Jean Kesler Garrett, 60, of Charlotte went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 16, 2016 at her residence. Death was unexpected. She was born July 2, 1956 in Mecklenburg County, NC a daughter of the late Henry Bascom Kesler and Irene Ester Scroggs Kesler. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, September 21, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Service Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. Thursday until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband, George Garrett of the home, four children; Kristopher C. Garrett, Daniel S. Garrett, Lori M. Garrett and Sarah K. Garrett. She is also survived by sisters, Marie Crump and Katherine Murphy and one brother David Kesler. Barbara was a loving wife and Mom. She was a homemaker. Crafting was her passion; she enjoyed making jewelry, working with flowers, photography, quilting and feeding her birds. Gleason, Barbara - Denver  
Barbara Marlene Gleason, 83, of Denver, NC passed away on September 17, 2016. She was born on March 2, 1933 in Guilford County to the late Laurin and Verl Peele. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Gleason and her grandchild Jeremy. Barbara lived the majority of her years in Greensboro, NC and worked for over 30 years in the credit department at Sears. For the past 9 years, she resided in Denver, NC. Survivors include her sons, Jackie Jr. of Burlington, NC and Don and wife Hye of High Point, NC; daughter, Debbie Thrap and husband Eddie of Denver, NC. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren (Jack, Josh, Chad, Derek, Erica, Ruffin) and 7 great-grandchildren. (John, Jackson, Taylor, Grealyn, Graham, Ayden, Shepard). Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, cleaning, shopping for bargains and spending time with family and friends. Barbara was cheerful and always extended a warm greeting to all. The service to celebrate her life will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, September 21 in the chapel of James Funeral Home. A reception will follow in the community room of James Funeral Home. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Loves leaves a memory no one can steal. Grabinski, Joanna Maria (Calore) - Denver  
Joanna Maria Calore Grabinski, 78, of Denver, NC passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at her residence. She was born on October 12, 1937 in Belmont, MA and was the daughter of the late Placido and Josephine Paris Calore. She was a very active member at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Denver, NC, working with Christian Ministries and delivering Meals on Wheels. She also was a member of the Red Hat Ladies. Survivors include two daughters, Beth Orcutt DeWitt and husband Michael of Midlothian, VA., and Lisa Ann Dillow of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Matthew and Kelsey DeWitt, Shana Ann (Jerris Lobdell) and Spencer Lamar Tucker. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Denver. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 26, 2016, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Guentert, Louis Frederick - Charlotte  
Mr. Guentert, 99, of Matthews, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2016. He was born February 16, 1917, in Toledo, OH, the son of the late Charles W. Guentert and Emma Schmidt Guentert. Louis graduated from Ohio State University in 1938 with a Bachelor Degree of Chemical Engineering and went to work for the Celanese Corporation. He married Kathleen Silcott on April 21, 1941. Louis served his country during WWII in Europe as a Captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Upon his discharge in 1946, the family moved to Cumberland, MD, and Louis returned to work for Celanese, resuming a career that spanned over forty years until his retirement in 1982. His job took him and his family to South Carolina and New Jersey until they finally settled down in Charlotte in 1966. Louis was a devout Lutheran and long-time member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Ancient Free Masons for over 70 years and his hobbies included travel, gardening, bridge, poker, along with stamp and coin collecting. Louis is predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Kathleen and his daughters, Nancy G. Bowman and Mary Emma Guentert. He is survived by his daughter Margaret L. Hopkins and husband Jon of Brooklin, ME; daughter Barbara J. Wyckoff and husband Robert of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughter Elizabeth A. Williams and husband Ken of Charlotte; son-in-law Earle L. Bowman of Winston-Salem, NC; five grandchildren: Richard Hopkins, Bridget Hopkins, Robert Wyckoff, Matthew Williams, and Kathleen Williams, and great-grandson Liam Hopkins. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, from 6-8 pm, at Harry and Bryant, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207 and a service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, September 23 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 1001 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28207. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Dr., Matthews, NC 28104. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Heintzelman, Ruth Noble - Greenwood  
Ruth Noble Heintzelman, 88, resident of Wesley Commons, wife of Henry C. "Skip" Heintzelman, died September 6, 2016, at Hospice House. Born April 13, 1928, in Alliance Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Ralph V. and Ida Stanley Noble. She was a graduate of Mt. Union University in Mt. Union, OH, and of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland, OH. Formerly of Charlotte, she had made her home in Greenwood since 2005. A member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, she was also a member of the Adult #1 Sunday School Class of the church. Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are two sons, Tod and wife Jackie Heintzelman of Simpsonville and Scott and wife Lori Heintzelman of Lebanon, VA; a sister, Mary Jane Bair of Longwood, FL; and a granddaughter, Kieran Heintzelman of Lebanon, VA. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 24th at Asbury Hall of Wesley Commons, Greenwood, SC with Rev. Carol Peppers Wray officiating.
