McManus, Ernest - Charlotte  
Ernest H. McManus CHARLOTTE - Mr. McManus, the son of the late Allen Q. and Mae Lee White McManus was born September 19, 1930 in Pageland, SC. Mr. McManus transitioned into eternal rest on April 23, 2015, at Novant Hospital -Main in Charlotte, NC. He was a member of Flint Ridge Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board, Sunday school teacher and was a member the hymn choir until his health declined. Mr. McManus served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict receiving several accommodation medals while in combat. He was a member of Oak Hill Masonic Lodge #258, PHA in Pageland, SC. Mr. McManus retired from Ryder Pie Trucking as a long distance truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Ernestine; one grandson, William; three brothers, Hazel, Nathaniel and Lester McManus and one infant sister. He leaves to cherish fond memories his devoted wife, Thelma Robinson McManus; three sons, Rev. Woodrow (Cheryl), Ernest H. Jr. (Jacqueline) and William (Linda); two brothers, Ben Frank (Nellie), all of Charlotte, NC, Allen McManus, Jr. of Southfield, MI; two sisters Louise Gregory of Charlotte and Shirley (Willie) Sands of Stone Mountain, GA; grandchildren, Woodrow Jr., Tiffany, Notasha, Jacklyn, Kimberly, Shawn, and Jillisa, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A visitation will be held Monday, April 27, 2015, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 3:00 pm at Flint Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, Pageland, SC and burial in the Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Services for the McManus family entrusted to Alexander Funeral Home.

Pearl Gearline Swiger Mecredy "Geri" CHARLOTTE - Pearl Gearline Swiger Mecredy "Geri" went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 1935 in Richmond, VA, and was the daughter of Gladys and Posie Lee Adkins. She was a long time resident of Charlotte and Matthews, NC. She was always the life of the party and she never met a stranger. She loved going shopping and spending time with her family every chance she could. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was adored and loved by many and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her loving husbands Henry Howard Swiger (1993) and James E. Mecredy (2009), also by her loving sister Phyllis Ann (2013), and her brother Max Adkins (Bobby Jo). She is survived by her brother, Herbert (Alice); daughters, Irene (Zaye), Deborah (Robert), Arlene (Kim), Darlene (Marc), Tammy Darlene (Jimmy) and her sons, Bobby (Debbie) and Michael Mecredy (Colleen); her grandchildren: Lisa, Tiffany, Melissa, John, Carl, Jerry, Kimberly, Kendra, Bobby Jr., Colton and Michaela; great-grandchildren; Sierra, Anna, Evan, Emma, Kaylee, Logan, Tucker, Mollie, Brianna, Jailynn, Joseph, Law, Andi, Caitlin, Abigail, Cameron. To celebrate her life, services will be held on Saturday at Idlewild Baptist Church, 12701 Idlewild Rd., Matthews, NC 28105. Receiving of family and friends will be from 2:00PM - 3:00PM. Service will begin at 3:00PM. Proceedings to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens on Lawyers Rd. Flowers/donations can be directly sent to Idlewild Baptist Church.

Miller, Margaret - Charlotte  
Margaret Leonard Miller "Peggy" CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Leonard Miller, age 92, passed away suddenly and peacefully on April 14, 2015. She was born in Norton, VA; on January 25, 1923, the first child of the late Zachary T. Leonard and Annie Pearce Leonard. She graduated from Harding High School in 1941 and married William "Bill" Miller in 1942. She was a charter member of Third Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. Shortly after Bills death in 1959 she began working for ICI Americas as a lab technician and was a loyal employee until retiring after 23 years of service. After her retirement she volunteered as a "medical transport" driver for the Shepherd Center for many years. She enjoyed reminiscing with former classmates at Harding High Reunions, lunching with her friends at ICI and spending time with her "Breakfast Club" friends. Her first love was her large extended family. She is survived her son, William (Pam) Miller of Columbia, SC; granddaughters, Melissa (J.D.) Gibbs of Davidson, NC; and Jennifer (Brantley) Hanna of Blythewood, SC; great-grandsons, Jackson, Miller, Jason and Taylor and great-granddaughters, Maddie, Mollie, Mckenzie and Macie. She also had many nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws that she loved as well as a wide circle of friends and neighbors. She will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Third Presbyterian Church, 4019 Central Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28205.

Molino, Dean - Lexington  
Dean Paul Molino MATTHEWS - "My child, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." - Unknown Dean Paul Molino, 56, of Matthews, passed away on April 18, 2015, after a long and courageous journey with carcinoid cancer. Dean was born to adoring parents, Joy Molino Aten and the late Louis Paul Molino in Evansville, IN. He grew up in Lexington, KY and ultimately settled in Charlotte, NC where he lived for 27 years. He was the beloved husband of Sheila Witt Molino and loving brother of Dan Louis Molino. Dean was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a die-hard member of the Big Blue Nation. In addition to his love of Kentucky basketball, music, cars and time on Seabrook Island, Dean was an avid and accomplished golfer. He was employed by Duke Energy his entire 33 year career. Though his time with us was short, Dean had a widespread positive impact on those in his life. He had a huge heart and cared deeply about others. He will be dearly missed. We will celebrate his life at Cedarwood Country Club on Thursday at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Caring for Carcinoid at www.caringforcarcinoid.org/donations . Moreno, Ruben - Charlotte  
Ruben J. Moreno CHARLOTTE - Ruben J. Moreno, age 69, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 11, 2015, in Charlotte, NC. Ruben was born on March 13, 1946, to Dr. Ruben Moreno and Mirtha Garcia Moreno in Tampa, Florida. Ruben earned a Master's of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor's of Fine Arts from the University of South Alabama. As an artist, educator, and community collaborator, Ruben was passionate about showing children how to tell their stories (visual storytelling) using claymation and videography. This focus took him around the world; including Mexico, Norway, Kenya, and Northern Ireland, where he helped start a cross-border arts initiative bringing together Protestant and Catholic teens. Ruben was a member of the visual art faculty of Louisville Collegiate School and served as the chair of the New Media program for Kentucky's Governor's School for the Arts. In Tampa, Ruben served as the assistant director of Visual and Performing Arts for the Hillsborough County Schools and worked as an artist in the schools for the Tampa/Hillsborough Arts Council. Ruben is survived by his wife, Cynthia Lee Moreno, and son, Maxwell Ruben Moreno (Charlotte, NC), his father-in-law, Fred W. Lee (Sarasota, FL), and his sisters, Mirtha Agliano and Sonia Costa (Frank); nieces and nephews: Mirtha Roman (John), Stephanie Agliano, Aline Agliano, Stacy Gomes (Tony), Joe Costa (Robin), Chris Costa (Nadi), Tad Costa, Matt Costa, Laura Talley (Jay), and many other great-nieces and nephews from Tampa, FL. A memorial mass will be offered on Saturday, April 25, at 1 p.m., at OLPH Catholic Church, 1711 E. 11th Ave., Ybor City, Tampa, FL 33605. A future gathering will be planned for Louisville, Kentucky. Moses, Shukree - Gastonia  
Shukree Joseph Moses 9/27/1921 - 4/12/2015 GASTONIA - Shukree Moses, son of the late Joseph Moses and Tamam Daybis was born September 27, 1921 in Belmont, NC. Shukree, better known as Chick, attended Belmont Abbey and joined the Army Air Corps at age 21, where he flew 31 missions as a B24 Bomber Flight Engineer. He married Edith Ligon and both were blessed with a son, Timothy Charles, who pre-deceased him in 2008. After the war, Chick worked in the building supply industry until retirement. Chick lived in Florida and Arizona, but spent most of his life in North Carolina. He enjoyed 93 years of love and life with friends and family never losing his wit or amazing ability to touch the heart of every person that knew him. Chick remained active until peacefully passing away on Sunday morning while holding the hands of his granddaughter Erin Annice Moses and her mother. He is survived by his granddaughter Erin; sister Eva Estridge; brother John Moses and his wife Lucille; brother Joseph Moses; and many, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Dewan; and his sisters Helen, Lillian, Alma and Rose along with his loving wives, Edith Ligon Moses, Barbara Wilkinson Moses and Joanne Sinclair Moses. His loving relatives and a host of friends and church family will miss him dearly, especially his adopted family Donna and Kirk Adams and the members of Chapel Grove Baptist Church. A memorial and prayer service will be held on Friday, April 24th, at 2:00 pm at Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Belmont Abbey College or Hospice House in Shelby.
