Rogers, Bernard - Charlotte  
Bernard Michael Rogers CHARLOTTE - Bernard Michael Rogers passed away at home on November 19, 2014, with his family at his side. Bernard was affectionately known as Bernie and was born on April 16, 1936 in the Bronx, New York. He was proceeded in death by his mother Esther; father William; and by his brothers William and James Gerard. Bernie leaves behind the love of his life, June, who he was married to for 54 years. He also leaves behind son, Kevin, grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Timothy; son, Brian; son Keith, granddaughter, Lila; daughter Kerri Kretzschmar and husband Jim Kretzschmar, grandson Steven; son, David and great-grandson Phillip John. Bernie Rogers loved life and had a captivating presence. He enjoyed people and had a great ability to make everyone laugh and feel comfortable. He had a wonderful sense of humor, combined with quick witticisms. Family was his number one priority. His hobby was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and his many lifetime friends. Bernie started his career with ADP in New York City and ended his career as General Manager of ACS Image Solutions in Charlotte NC. The family would like to thank nurses, Sherry Joy, Jennifer Coopman and Christine Jiminez of the Union Regional Home Care. He had excellent care from his physician's Marvin Shapiro, MD, Lawrence Moffat, Jr., MD, FACP and Todd Griffin, MD and the DaVita South Dialysis Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Daily Mass Chapel at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Interment will follow the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to Levine Children's Hospital. In memoriam to Bernie Rogers checks can be made out to Levine Children's Hospital and mailed to 1221 East Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC 28204. Sanchez, Angelo - Pineville  
Angelo Joseph Sanchez PINEVILLE - Angelo Joseph Sanchez, 84, of Pineville, NC, formerly of Vero Beach, Florida, for 60 years, passed away November 13, 2014. He was born on March 31, 1930, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Jose and Dollie Sanchez. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in the Korean War. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Bonnie H. Sanchez; daughter, Teresa D'Albora (Paul); son, Mark Sanchez (Carolyn); grandchildren, Angela D'Albora, Jacob D'Albora (Megan), Sara Sanchez, Elizabeth Sanchez; and great-grandchild, James D'Albora. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Christ Lutheran Church, 4519 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC. Sanders, Roy - Morganton  
Roy Lynn Sanders MORGANTON - Roy Lynn Sanders, 76, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Born August 2, 1938 in Mecklenburg County, NC, he was the son of the late Roy Spurgeon Sanders and Johnsie Sanders McGill. After graduating from Myers Park High School, Roy attended the Citadel in Charleston, SC, and went on to serve in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam War. He was an avid community servant who received the "Community Spirit Award" from the American General Insurance Company. Roy also received the Optimist Club's most prestigious award, "The Life Membership Award", for his work with children participating in the Soap Box Derby. Roy is survived by his wife, Velma Hester Sanders of the home; children, Debbie Barnstable and husband, Tim, and Jeff Sanders; step-children, Melissa Brown, and Emory Brown and wife, Mallory; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Gaye Sanders Fisher; a sister-in-law, Beverly Bryant; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 21, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church in Morganton. Sawyer, Nancy - Concord  
Nancy Sawyer CONCORD - Mrs. Nancy Sawyer, 93, of Morningside Living Center, passed away early Thursday morning, November 13, 2014. Born in Cornelius on June 26, 1921, she was a daughter of the late William and Annie King Potts. A graduate of Appalachian State University, Mrs. Sawyer was an elementary teacher for many years in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System where she helped educate hundreds and hundreds of children. She was an active member of Third Presbyterian Church of Charlotte until her illness overtook her. Nancy was dearly loved by all who knew her and will fondly be remembered as a loving friend. Her husband of 56 years, George L. Sawyer, preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Hammond and son-in-law, Jerry of Concord; a son, Kenneth M. Sawyer and daughter-in-law, Christine of Santa Fe, NM; a granddaughter, Jennifer Hammond Tracey and her husband, Joseph of Ashburn, VA; and three great-grandsons, Sean, Cameron and Logan Tracey. Memorial services were held 2:00 pm Sunday, November 16, 2014, at McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262. Una Catherine Hoops Schlee CHARLOTTE - Una Catherine Hoops Schlee, 77, of Charlotte died November 18, 2014. She was born on March 2, 1937 in Wabasha County, MN to the late Fritz and Emma Hoops. Nick Lester Seagle CHARLOTTE - Nick Lester Seagle, age 62, of 11912 Breezy Trail Lane in Charlotte, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Hulls Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Redding officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014, at Warlick Funeral Home. Mr. Seagle was born September 28, 1952, in Lincoln County, to the late Cecil McCoy and Mary Lou Fisher Seagle. Nick was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a Professional Engineer in the nuclear industry. He is survived by his wife, Martie Seagle of the home; two sons, Shane Seagle and wife Kim, and Jake Seagle and wife Laura; five grandchildren, Cole, Ben, Katelyn, Cooper and Ava Seagle; a sister, Pat Heafner and husband Chris; a brother, Mark Seagle and wife Pam; brothers-in-law, Randy Burch and Johnny Burch and wife Katrina; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Geraldine was born April 26, 1931 in Union County, NC a daughter of the late Hurley Eugene and Fannie Daisy Staton Williams. She was a textile retiree and a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, W. Wyatt Seigler, Sr. of the home; her son and daughter-in-law, Wyatt, Jr. and Debbie Seigler of Wadesboro; her grandsons, Bill Seigler of Wadesboro, Wade Seigler of Rockingham and David Seigler of Greenville, SC; her sisters-in-law, Juanita Williams of Lilesville and Lavenia Boling of Smyrna, SC and her nieces and nephews and their families. Evelyn Collette Deal Blackburn Shepherd CHARLOTTE - Evelyn Collette Deal Blackburn Shepherd of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2014, at White Oak Manor. She was born on July 3, 1931 in Belmont, NC to Catherine Gossett and Oscar Deal. Collette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eli Shepherd; daughter, Kathy Abernathy; brothers, Don and Pete Deal; and sister, Lois Swinson. Collette was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, aunt and friend. She will forever be in our hearts. She was passionate about all things Elvis, including a room in her home enshrined with 50 years of Elvis momentos. She loved going to see her favorite Elvis impersonator, Rick Alviti, who lovingly referred to her as "Wild Woman". Collette is survived by her daughters, Vicky Maynor and husband, Randall and Dusty McCorkle and husband, Homer; grandchildren, Candy Thomas (Ed), Shea Turman, Amber Carpenter (Scott), Brian Abernathy (Mandy), Stacey Richardson (Randal); seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends at McEwen Funeral Services, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC on Saturday, November 22, from 11:30-1:00. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. with interment in Sharon Memorial Park. Memorial may be made to Alzheimer's or Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte region. Harry Clinton Shu SANTA FE, TX - Harry Clinton Shu, 60, of Santa Fe, Texas, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Levine-Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. Clint was born July 1, 1954 in Charlotte to Midgie Carnes Shu and the late Fred W. Shu. He is survived by his daughter, Christine Sutton (Chris ), sister Freida Riley (David), brothers Marty Shu and Steve Shu (Sally) and many nieces and nephews.
