Stephanie Stone Anderson MARVIN - Stephanie Anderson, 48, of Marvin, went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 16, 2015. Her immediate family includes her husband, Scott Anderson; their daughters, Samantha Ann Anderson, Susanna Marie Anderson, and Savannah Marie Anderson; her parents, Charles and Mary Stone, Sr., and her brother, Charles J. Stone, Jr. The family requests that donations be made in Stephanie's name to Carmelkidz Ministry of Carmel Baptist Church. A celebration of Stephanie's life will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Carmel Baptist Church, 1145 Pineville-Matthews Rd., Matthews, NC 28105. Arndt, Rolph - Kannapolis  
Rolf Arndt KANNAPOLIS - Mr. Rolf Arndt, 75, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015, at his residence. A memorial service with military rites is scheduled for 4:00 pm Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service in the Amity House at Lady's Funeral Home. Mr. Arndt was born June 26, 1939 in Riga, Latvia. He was a son of the late Eduard Jewsejew and Alexandra Semenov Jewsejew. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and worked as a project manager for Carpenter's Local 157 in New York City. Rolf was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kannapolis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Karin Bloomfield and his brothers, Edgar and Wolfgang Jewsejew. Mr. Arndt is survived by his wife, Jeanette Arndt; son, Edward Arndt and wife Jenny Ahlin of Charlotte; daughter, Lisa Albinus and husband David of Concord; and four grandchildren, Kimberley Albinus, Ryan Albinus, Hannah-Rose Albinus and Quinn Albinus. Baker, Wanda - Charlotte  
Wanda Kay Baker CHARLOTTE - Miss Baker, age 50, of Charlotte, died Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Carolinas Medical Center - Main. Born August 23, 1964, in Charlotte, she was a daughter of the late Harry J. Baker and Ethel Adois McCarver Baker. Miss Baker graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1986. She retired as a physical education teacher of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools after 25 years of service. Miss Baker loved being around water, including boating, fishing and swimming. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid animal lover. A reception for family and friends will be held 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 19, at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service. The service to celebrate the life of Wanda Kay Baker will immediately follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Joan Gallimore and Rob McCarver officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Memorial Park. Survivors include her companion, Janet Martin; sisters, Gayle Spencer and Terry Philemon; nephews, Michael Andrew Philemon and Nick Philemon; and longtime family friends, Joan Gallimore and Jeannette Roth. Bumgardner, Jack - Charlotte  
Jack Clifford Bumgardner CHARLOTTE - Jack Clifford Bumgardner, 88, of Charlotte, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015, at his home. He was born and grew up in Mecklenburg County and was the son of the late Jay and Winnie Alexander Bumgardner. He served active duty in the US Navy during WWII, re-enlisted, and served active duty in the Korean War. He was retired from Yellow Freight Carriers where he worked on the docks. Jack was an avid sports fan. He adored his family and was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and proud veteran. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Yvonne Hargett Bumgardner; son, Jack Bumgardner, Jr.; daughters, Vanessa Smith (Randy) and Holli Duke; grandchildren, Kimberly Broome (Josh), Andrew Smith, Hunter Duke, Cody Duke and Jay Bumgardner (Brittany); great-grandchildren, Gavin Broome and Aubrey Bumgardner. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Francis Cagle and is survived by his long time friend and companion Mary Knox. Laura Herring Carpenter CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Carpenter, 75, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Tuesday, the 19th of May 2015, at Novant Health - Huntersville. She was born the 11th of January 1940, one of four children, to the late Leston C. Herring and Mardell Jewell Payne Herring Calhoun. In her early years she was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother. Later in life she worked several administration positions. Mrs. Carpenter was an active member of Real Life Church, formerly Lucia Baptist Church. She had an outgoing and soft spoken voice that always made others feel at ease. She had a compassionate love for her family, church and friends, she was always thankful for all the blessings God bestowed upon her. The Carpenter family will greet friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Thursday, the 21st of May 2015, at Ellington Funeral Services. A service to celebrate her life will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, the 22nd of May 2015, in The Historic Morehead Street Chapel of Ellington Funeral Services. Committal will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 57 years, Kenneth Carpenter of Charlotte, NC; two daughters: Candy Holden and husband, Mark of Stanley, NC and Lisa Wadsworth of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren: Blake Holden and Allison Wadsworth; two great-grandchildren: Lily and Jackson; two brothers: Bobby Herring and wife, JoAnne and Jimmy Herring and wife, Mary Ellen. She was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Herring. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Real Life Church, 15434 Lucia Riverbend Highway, Stanley, NC 28164. Dwight Howard Criswell CHARLOTTE - Howard, 70, went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2015. He was born on April 18, 1945. He worked for Stovall Foundry and Stephen Gould before retiring. He loved doing yard work and caring for his beloved dogs and cats. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Brenda Criswell; daughter, Sherry Batte (partner, Sarah White); sisters, Ruth Milam ("Shorty"), Shirley Drake and Chrissie Oxendine; sisters-in-law, Barbara Helms Mowka and Ramelle Batte; grandchildren, Matthew Green, Jr. (Alicia), Anthony Batte, Joshua Campbell, Max, Zac and Zoe Batte-White; great-granddaughter, Kyla Sports and many nieces and nephews, including Doug Criswell (Darla). His funeral will be held at 4PM on Friday, May 22, 2015, at Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Burial will be private.
