Dustin Mapes Obituary
Dustin, 25, of Weddington, NC, formerly of Charlotte, NC, died October 24, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 29th at Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC 28104 followed by a graveside service at Forest Lawn East Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Dustin was born September 29, 1984 in Charlotte. He attended Weddington High School and was currently a student at UNCC with a finance major. Dustin will be remembered as a loving and affectionate son and brother, and friend to many. He had a thirst for knowledge and loved to engage people in lively conversations and debates about politics or any current events. Dustin had a passion for finance and investing, had a great sense of humor, and loved music and animals, especially his beloved cat. His life was short but he knows he was well loved. May his future be happy and peaceful with the Lord. Perhaps there are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.
Dustin is survived by his mother and father, Janet and Doug Mapes, his brother, Brandon, his sister, Chelsey, and grandparents, Paul and Margaret Nelson of Tryon, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations to celebrate Dustin's love of animals can be made to The Humane Society of Union County, P.O. Box 101, Monroe, NC 28111.

Dear Janet, Brandon, Chelsey, and Doug:
We were deeply saddened to hear of Dustin’s passing. We can sympathize and empathize with you during this time of grief. There are no words that we can offer to change the situation which you are facing. We watched Dustin grow up with great energy and a passion of purpose. Our prayers are with you.
