Susan Coben Obituary

Susan Wynn Coben
Susan Wynn Coben, 51, of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center of complications from her fight against Breast Cancer.
Sue was born on August 13, 1960 in Smyrna, TN, the eldest of three children of Larry and Esther Wynn of Huntington, NY. She was married to Matt Coben on March 19, 1988 in Long Island City, NY. Sue was a graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY with a BA in Social Work.
Sue's heart was her family. She was passionate about life and her interests - friends, tennis, books, shoes, reality TV, and working with autistic children. Her work at the Cyzner Institute working with children with Autism had become her life passion, and she had begun her graduate degree in special education. She was an avid tennis player. Sue taught us all how to say what you mean, stand for what you believe in, support those you love, and be a loyal friend. Her example will live on.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Matt, and her children, Josh, Carly, and Allie, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; her parents, Larry and Esther Wynn of Huntington, NY; her brother, Bill and his wife, Kim, of Los Angeles, CA; and her brother, Jonathan and his wife, Lori, and their three children of Pittsburgh, PA.
A memorial service will be held at Temple Beth El on Monday, December 19th at 3:00 p.m. Donations in her memory can be made to Carolina Breast Friends at 1607 East Morehead Street, Charlotte, NC 28207, [email protected].

I have just today learned of Sue's passing through the Skidmore Scope and am very, very saddened and shocked. I spoke to Sue a couple of years back and it was as though no time had passed. I will always remember Sue for her incredible sense of humor and her delivery of that humor! I am so very sorry to read that she had passed. My prayers go to all of her family members.

I just lost a best friend, Sue was my soul mate in college, the memory of our crazy times will live on forever. I can't help myself from laughing every time I think of her. She was by far the most animated person I know. I can truly say my love ran deep for Sue. She gave her all to me as a friend, she wore her heart on her sleeve and never held back her opinion(good for her!).
I can't express how sorry I feel, my love goes out to all the Cobens and Wynns.

Am so shocked by the news! Anytime I saw Sue she always said hello, though we were not close our girls played basketball one year and are friendly now through BBYO. Both girls volunteered in the summers at Cyzner and knew Sue as very kind to all. All our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We are sadden by your loss.

Sue truly was a person of passion and loyalty. She loved her family dearly. Sue was committed to doing her best everyday. Her energy was contagious and she celebrated life's mini goals. Her phrase was, " raise the roof" with her hands raised and she would do a little dance. She will be dearly missed.

Her sense of humor was second to none. Whenever we saw each other, she greeted me with, "Hello, Pierre" using her best French accent. You will be missed.
