Harold Clifford Mullis CHARLOTTE - Harold Clifford Mullis, 90 years of age, of Charlotte, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at his home. Harold was born July 17, 1925, in Mecklenburg County to the late John McCamie Mullis and the late Irene Garmon Mullis. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Melvin Mullis. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Saturday, January 9, 2016, at United Love Baptist Church, 11487 Flowes Stores Road in Midland. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the church sanctuary, officiated by Rev. Marvin Tyson and Dr. Lynn Sasser. The burial will be in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Annie Polly Johnson Mullis of the home; son, Ron Mullis and wife Debbie of Midland; daughter, Susan Gettis of Mint Hill; five grandchildren, Heather Teague of Charlotte, Kelly Ozbolt of Winston-Salem, Daniel Gettis of Charlotte, Kerri Calloway and husband Brandon of Concord, Kaitlyn Mullis; three great-grandchildren, Avery, Jaxton, and Joseph; brother, Keith Mullis and wife Alice of Charlotte; and sister-in-law, Daris Mullis. Harold honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He later worked in manufacturing, where he was co-founder and owner of H & R Mullis Machine, Incorporated. Harold was a faithful member of United Love Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, trustee, and was a member of the Go Club.
