Lee Collins, 71, born in Wingate Township in Union County, NC on October 6, 1935, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2007. Lee, the son of the late Guy and Eunice Collins, resided in McMurray, PA.
Lee was a prominent pipe organ builder of 55 years in the Charlotte and Pittsburgh areas. Lee was an avid bowler, golfer, and actively involved in youth sports and scouting. Lee enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Northside Baptist Church in the Hudson Chapel, officiated by the Reverends Albert Johnson and Mark Walker; pianist and vocalist, Rosalyn and Jesse 'Buck' Long; and violinist, Melissa Collins. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jane England Collins; his daughter, Peggi Collins of Mt. Juliet, TN; his two sons, George L. Collins, Jr. and his wife Beth of San Diego, CA and Jim Collins of Washington, PA; his three sisters, Ethel Gillespie and her husband Paul of Concord, NC, Frances Ellis of Pembroke, GA, and Shirley Gregory and her husband Bill of Stallings, NC; his brother, Wade Collins and his wife Barbara of Charlotte, NC; his granddaughter, Melissa Collins of McMurray, PA; his aunt, Mamie Deese of Charlotte, NC; and many nieces nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffrey Collins, Michael Collins, Joey Gregory, Gregory Gillespie, Thomas Gillespie, and David Gillespie.
Arrangements are in the care of McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel.
