J. Dean Barnhill

J. Dean Barnhill FORT MILL - After a long full life, Mr. James Dean Barnhill, 88, of Fort Mill, died Friday, August 30, 2013, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013 at Unity Cemetery, 303 Tom Hall Street, with Dr. Dan Holloway officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the Spratt Building, 215 Main Street in Fort Mill. Born in Gaffney, Mr. Barnhill was the son of the late James Roland Barnhill and Aleta Huskey Barnhill. As a young man he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps (Air Force) during World War II in the Philippines. Mr. Barnhill graduated from both Limestone College and the LSU School of Banking. He moved to Fort Mill in 1968 as Executive Vice President of the Bank of Fort Mill and retired as a local Vice President with the Bank of America. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the beach and salt water fishing. He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Jennie Barnhill-Urick of Fort Mill and two sons, David Roland Barnhill and his wife, Terri of York, and Scott Wilson Barnhill and his wife, Olena of Bluffton; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Wilson Cox Barnhill; and his son, Robert Dean Barnhill. Memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O.
