Suzanne and family....I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. We will all miss him so much. I will always remember the fun we had at East High where you two fell in love. He was such a "giver" and was always sweet, kind and honorable.
Love and peace to you and your family.

Suzanne, my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. It was always a bright spot in my day when Jim and or you would come by the office. I was so proud of him and all the other elected officials that attended/graduated from East Mecklenburg High School. East was certainly well represented by its share of politicians...

Suzanne, I was so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Yours was truly a love story. I remember how he used to drop in at The Matthews News just to see how you were feeling.

Suzanne, I am sorry. I loved seeing Jim when we were in "politics"....genuine, trustworthy, solid thinker, good servant leader and community steward . He will be missed. Give my best to Barbara Jean and Gayle. I am not going to be able to attend the funeral. We have had a death in our family and Tommy has been in the hospital...home today. I love to think back of how long we have known each other as I was in the Woodlawn group, so have known Jim a long time. My love to you and your family and am very proud of all that you and Jim have done and have given back to your community and state. Blessings, Velva

Suzanne, You are right: I love the picture gallery. It is great to see Jim's wonderful smile and gentle eyes. Joe and I love our memories of Jim and you in the NC General Assembly. Jim was a wise, diligent, and humble public servant, the very best example of a faithful citizen who willingly sacrificed his time for others. He was Chairman of the NC House of Representatives Wildlife Committee, appointed by the Democratic Speaker of the House. As a Republican, Jim was appointed not because of partisan politics, but because of his love of wildlife and his ability to work with other legislators of diverse backgrounds and views. He was a true diplomat, while at the same time a strong advocate of Second Amendment rights and hunting rights. He fought for gun rights before there was the majority of support there is now. He was always a friend to the hound hunters, and we appreciated his support. We have missed him since his retirement, and I know the past few years have been difficult. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you. I will send an email with our contact information for the future arrangements. God bless you and your family, Suzanne. Best always, Henri and Joe McClees (Oriental, NC)

Suzanne: Liz, Joellen and I have known Jim for 35 years and have enjoyed knowing him during that time as a good friend and someone who we respected and looked up to and admired. Words can't describe what a great person he was. It was a great privilege to have known him.
